XPeng has confirmed Australian pricing and specifications for the L03, a mid-size 'AI SUV coupe' that introduces the brand's Kunpeng Range Extender Technology to Australia for the first time. The line-up spans four variants, from a $41,900 entry-level rear-wheel-drive EV to a $53,900 all-wheel-drive performance flagship.
Australia and New Zealand are among the first markets outside China to get XPeng's range-extended electric powertrain, alongside the brand's latest driver assistance and self-driving technology. XPeng has not yet confirmed an on-sale date or delivery timing for the L03.
Pricing and variants
The XPeng L03 range comprises three battery-electric variants and one range-extended electric variant (EREV). Pricing is before on-road costs.

The RWD Standard Range is the accessible entry point into the range. The RWD Long Range is aimed at buyers who want more EV range for daily driving and longer trips. The AWD Performance Ultra sits at the top of the range, pairing all-wheel drive with XPeng's most advanced intelligent driving hardware. The Power-X Long Range shares its $41,900 starting price with the RWD Standard Range, but XPeng positions it as a different proposition: electric driving for everyday use, with a small petrol range extender for longer journeys.
All three battery-electric variants, the RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range and AWD Performance Ultra, are eligible for Australia's EV FBT exemption. The Power-X Long Range is not, because it uses a petrol range extender and does not meet the exemption's requirement that a car be fully electric.
Power-X Long Range: XPeng's first range extender for Australia
The Power-X Long Range is the first XPeng model sold in Australia to use Kunpeng Range Extender Technology. XPeng says Australia and New Zealand are the first markets outside China to receive it.
The range extender does not drive the wheels directly. The car is propelled by its electric motor at all times, and a 1.5-litre petrol engine acts as an onboard generator that recharges the battery when needed. It uses an AI-powered energy management coordinates power use across city, highway and hill-climbing driving to manage efficiency and available range.

The Power-X Long Range is capable of up to 200+ km of electric range and 1,000+ km combined. The Power-X Long Range's maximum power output is 178kW, lower than the RWD Long Range's 183kW, reflecting its role as a range-focused rather than performance-focused variant.
NGP (VLA 2.0): self-driving tech limited to the Ultra variant
The L03 is the first XPeng model in Australia to offer NGP (VLA 2.0), XPeng's Next Generation Pilot system built on what the company calls a physical-world foundation model. The system is designed to understand complex, real-world driving scenarios rather than handling individual driving assistance functions in isolation.
Only the AWD Performance Ultra variant gets NGP (VLA 2.0). It is fitted with three XPeng Turing AI chips delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power, the hardware XPeng says NGP (VLA 2.0) requires. XPeng plans to roll the system out to Australian and New Zealand Ultra owners via an over-the-air update in 2027, and says this is subject to local regulatory approval.
On paper, NGP (VLA 2.0) is the closest thing to a Tesla Full Self-Driving rival set to reach Australia, at least based on what XPeng claims it can do. Whether it lives up to that depends on two things that are still unresolved: regulatory approval, and how the system actually performs once local drivers get access to it. XPeng sounds confident it is a matter of when, not if, but neither has been proven yet.
The RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range and Power-X Long Range variants do not get NGP (VLA 2.0) or the extra Turing AI chip hardware. Instead, they run XPeng's baseline XPILOT Assist system, a conventional ADAS suite rather than a self-driving system. Standard XPILOT Assist features across the range include:

XPeng told Zecar that the RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range and Power-X Long Range could receive a future update enabling VLA Lite, a distilled and less powerful version of XNGP.
XOS 6.0 cockpit and native Google Maps
The L03 debuts the international version of XPeng's XOS 6.0 cockpit software. At the centre of the experience is a rebuilt AI voice assistant that XPeng says supports more natural, multilingual conversations and can interpret intent rather than only responding to fixed commands. New capabilities will be added through future over-the-air updates.
The L03 is also the first XPeng model to run Google Maps Auto SDK, following a partnership XPeng announced for markets outside China. XPeng says this makes it the first automaker from the Asia-Pacific region to ship a vehicle with native Google Maps Auto SDK integration. Drivers get XPeng's own in-car navigation system built on Google Maps data, without needing to download the Google Maps app or mirror it from a phone. XPeng says it will also use Google's in-vehicle map data to support both NGP (VLA 2.0) and XPILOT Assist.
Cabin hardware is shared across the range: a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 26.8-inch head-up display, 256-colour ambient lighting and four-zone voice control. All variants get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Google Play.
Design and colours
The L03 was developed under former Ferrari exterior design chief JuanMa Lopez, applying what XPeng calls its "Vital Flow" design philosophy. It has a wide-body stance, coupe-SUV proportions, a fastback silhouette, frameless doors and frameless door mirrors, and a drag coefficient of 0.228Cd, which XPeng says is class-leading.
The L03 measures 4,650mm long, 1,920mm wide and 1,600mm tall, on a 2,850mm wheelbase. It seats five, with a 40/20/40 split-folding rear bench.
Exterior colours are Midnight Black, Rock Gray, Silver Frost, Phantom Purple and Arctic White, each paired with yellow brake calipers. A Black Edition adds a full black body colour with darkened calipers and wheels. Interior trim comes in dark grey or light grey.
Storage, towing and comfort
The L03 has 37 storage spaces throughout the cabin, plus a 539-litre rear boot (including underfloor storage) and a 10-litre pull-out drawer under the boot floor. The two EV variants get a front trunk as well, 102 litres on RWD models and 69 litres on the AWD Performance Ultra. The Power-X Long Range does not have a front trunk, its space taken up by the range extender hardware.
All variants are rated to tow up to 1,500kg braked, with a manual tow hook available as a market-specific option. XPeng also fits eight flush magnetic mounting points, five 1/4-inch threaded mounts and front passenger expansion docks, aimed at roof racks and outdoor gear rather than towing.
Front seats get ventilation, heating and 4-way power lumbar support across the range, with 14-point massage added on the AWD Performance Ultra only. Rear seats have 5-level electric adjustment and a through-type centre armrest with cup holders.

The L03 is the cheapest car in this group by a clear margin and has a longer wheelbase than the EX5 although shorter than the Model Y and 7x. Storage space is also strong with a sizeable frunk (102L) and boot (539L). Its 445km WLTP range and 193kW DC charging are competitive with the Geely EX5 Inspire and Tesla Model Y RWD, though it trails the Zeekr 7X RWD Standard Range on range and charging speed, and both the Zeekr and Tesla on power and acceleration.

Warranty and availability
XPeng's Australian launch materials for the L03 do not specify a warranty term or an on-sale date. XPeng ANZ has previously extended a 7-year warranty to existing TrueEV buyers after taking over local distribution; whether this applies to the L03 has not been confirmed and should be checked with XPeng ANZ or a dealer before ordering.
