XPENG ANZ, the factory-backed Australian and New Zealand subsidiary of XPeng Inc, confirmed today that its distributor arrangement with TrueEV Distribution has formally ended. XPENG ANZ says it is now the sole operator of the XPENG brand in Australia and will directly honour cashback, warranty, maintenance and other promotional commitments made to customers who bought through TrueEV.
The announcement is particularly relevant for anyone who bought an XPeng through TrueEV and is still waiting on a promised rebate, warranty activation or service booking. XPENG ANZ says it has expanded its Australian-based customer care team and will review individual cases as they come in.
Why TrueEV and XPeng Parted Ways
TrueEV Distribution became XPeng's exclusive Australian distributor in 2024 and launched the original G6 SUV locally. XPeng ended that exclusive arrangement at the start of 2026, and XPENG ANZ began direct operations the following April.
A receiver was appointed in March 2026 over 197 units of TrueEV's previous-generation G6 stock. TrueEV said at the time that this applied only to that stock and not to the company as a whole.
TrueEV challenged XPeng's decision to end the distribution deal in the Federal Court, alleging unconscionable conduct, according to reporting by ABC News. The court dismissed TrueEV's case on 20 August 2026, after TrueEV could not provide the financial surety required to proceed. TrueEV has said it may appeal or pursue other action, though it has not given a timeline. XPENG ANZ's statement does not comment on the legal proceedings or the circumstances of TrueEV.
How TrueEV Customers Can Claim Cashback, Warranty and Other Offers
XPENG ANZ says it recognises the TrueEV transition has created uncertainty for some customers and is addressing it through a case-by-case review of documented promotional commitments made at the time of purchase. Offers covered include:

- 10-year warranty promotional campaign offers
- Complimentary scheduled maintenance promotional campaign offers
- Other miscellaneous promotional and campaign offers

7-Year Warranty Extended to All XPENG Owners
XPENG ANZ's manufacturer-backed 7-year warranty program covers eligible vehicles sold from 1 June 2026, as announced that month. XPENG ANZ is now extending the same program to eligible vehicles bought through TrueEV or its authorised dealers, on the same terms and subject to XPENG ANZ's warranty documentation.

Dealer Network and Right-to-Repair Commitment
XPENG ANZ's factory-backed dealer network has kept growing since direct operations began in April 2026 and now spans Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia. Customers can find their nearest authorised XPENG dealer or service partner at xpeng.com/au.
On 22 June 2026, XPENG ANZ signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority, formalising its participation in the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme. The scheme supports consumer choice in where and how vehicles are serviced. Technical onboarding is under way and is expected to be completed over the coming months.
XPeng's Brand Day: Five New EVs for Australia
XPENG ANZ's customer commitments follow a brand day event in July 2026, where the company outlined plans for five new models in Australia within six months. The updated MY26 G6 and the X9 people mover are available to order now, with the X9 starting at $89,900 and the updated G6 from $51,800, both plus on-road costs.
The compact L03 SUV is confirmed in right-hand drive for a fourth-quarter 2026 Australian launch. XPeng also confirmed two further models, described only as larger versions of existing vehicles, without giving further detail, and a GX SUV pitched against the Range Rover. XPeng says the GX is due in Australia in 2027, but it will arrive under a different name because of a trademark conflict with Lexus.
XPeng also detailed its VLA 2.0 self-driving foundation model at the event, due globally in 2027, with Australia among the first right-hand-drive markets in line for it, subject to regulatory approval. The system runs on the company's Turing AI chips, which XPeng says can deliver up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power across as many as three chips per vehicle. A Kunpeng range-extender model is also planned, with electric-only range expected to exceed 250km WLTP.
XPeng showed its IRON humanoid robot and Aridge flying car at the same event, though neither has a confirmed Australian timeline.
