BYD Atto 3 Evo Priced From $41,990, Adds RWD Model

BYD has confirmed pricing and full specifications for the MY26 Atto 3 Evo, the first major update to the car that launched the brand in Australia. The updated SUV is on sale now, priced from $41,990 for the Dynamic and $46,990 for the Premium, both before on-road costs.

The refresh brings new styling inside and out, plus a rear-wheel-drive Premium variant with more power, a bigger battery and much faster charging. Orders are open, with deliveries expected to start in September 2026.

BYD's First Major Update Since Its 2022 Launch

The Atto 3 landed in Australia in late 2022 as BYD's first electric vehicle sold locally, helping establish the brand ahead of the Dolphin, Seal and Sealion range that followed. The Atto 3 Evo is the first significant update to that car.

Two grades continue as before, Dynamic and Premium, but they no longer share the same drivetrain. The Premium now gets its own rear-wheel-drive setup, a first for the Atto 3 nameplate in Australia.

New Design, Unchanged Dimensions

Exterior dimensions carry over from the outgoing Atto 3 unchanged, at 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide and 1,615mm tall, with a 2,720mm wheelbase.

The styling changes though. BYD's Dragon Face design theme remains, but with sharper lines through the front bumper, daytime running lights that now stretch the full width of the nose, slimmer integrated side skirts, and full-width Chinese-knot LED tail lights at the rear. The rooftop spoiler gets a new flared design at each end, and the lower rear bumper adopts a more pronounced swept-up treatment.

Each grade gets its own 18-inch alloy wheel design, the Dynamic with a dual-tone straight-line pattern and the Premium with a five-spoke dual-tone swirl design. A panoramic sunroof, roof rails and a one-touch power tailgate are standard across the range.

A Completely Reworked Interior

The cabin gets its biggest update yet. The gear shifter moves from the centre console to a column-mounted stalk, freeing up space around the console, and the driver display grows from 5 inches to 8.8 inches. Wireless phone charging power increases from 15W to 50W.

Dynamic comes standard with a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated and ventilated front seats and eight speakers. Premium adds dual-zone climate control and four-way power lumbar support for the driver's seat.

Losing the front motor on the Premium frees up a 101-litre frunk under the bonnet, a space the Dynamic does not get. Boot capacity on the Premium also grows by 56 litres to 490 litres with the second row in place, and by 20 litres to 1,360 litres with the seats folded.

Dynamic Keeps Front-Drive, Premium Switches to Rear-Drive

This is the biggest mechanical change in the update. The front-drive Dynamic uses a 60.48kWh Blade Battery producing 150kW and 310Nm, unchanged from the outgoing Atto 3 Premium's powertrain, for up to 420km of WLTP range.

The Premium switches to a rear-wheel-drive layout for the first time, built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 architecture. Its Blade Battery grows to 74.88kWh, with outputs of 230kW and 380Nm, cutting the 0-100km/h sprint to 5.5 seconds. WLTP range extends to 510km, and the Premium also gains a 1,500kg braked towing capacity.

The new e-Platform 3.0 architecture doubles the Premium's system voltage to 800V, lifting peak DC charging to 220kW and cutting its 0 to 80 per cent charge time to 25 minutes. The Dynamic keeps a 400V architecture with 110kW DC charging, going from 0 to 80 per cent in 41 minutes. Both variants get 3.3kW vehicle-to-load support as standard. BYD's outgoing Atto 3 Premium topped out at 88kW DC charging, so the jump to 220kW on the new Premium is a substantial one.

Australia misses out on the range-topping all-wheel-drive Atto 3 Evo sold in the UK, Europe and New Zealand, which uses a dual-motor setup producing 330kW and 560Nm for a 3.9-second 0-100km/h sprint. BYD's local press release confirms only the single-motor Dynamic and Premium for Australia at launch, consistent with an earlier leaked dealer document that showed no AWD variant in the local lineup.

The Atto 3 Evo Premium lands in a crowded part of the market. Here is how its flagship trim stacks up against the top-spec Geely EX5 Extended Range Inspire and the Leapmotor B10 Design Long Range, two of its closest rivals on price and positioning. All range figures are WLTP.

The Atto 3 Evo Premium undercuts the Geely EX5 Extended Range Inspire slightly on price while offering the longest range and quickest acceleration of the three. Connected Experience and Safety Tech

In-cabin connectivity gets a step up too, with a cleaner screen interface and faster response to commands. Physical buttons remain for frequently used functions. Both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, up from wireless-only on the outgoing car.

The intelligent voice assistant gets faster command response and improved voice zone detection, aimed at reducing interference from other occupants. The BYD App gains expanded remote functions, including door lock and unlock, air conditioning control, window control and vehicle location.

On safety, the Advanced Driver Assistance System adds Child Presence Detection, which uses in-cabin sensors to detect an occupant left in the vehicle after it is locked and triggers an alert within seconds. A Driver Monitoring System also joins the range, watching for signs of fatigue, distraction or unsafe behaviour. The Premium adds Front Cross Traffic Alert and Front Cross Traffic Brake.

Warranty

BYD backs the Atto 3 Evo with a 6-year, 150,000km vehicle warranty, an 8-year, 160,000km warranty on the Blade Battery, and an 8-year, 150,000km warranty on the drive unit.

Pricing, Colours and Availability

The MY26 Atto 3 Evo range is priced as follows, before on-road costs:

Standard paint is Ski White. Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black are available on both grades for an extra $600, and the Premium adds an exclusive Atlantis Grey to its palette. The Atto 3 Evo is available to order now, with deliveries expected to begin in September 2026.
