BYD Atto 3 Evo Specs Leaked: No Sign of AWD Model for Australia

A spec sheet appearing to be an internal BYD dealer document has surfaced online, giving the clearest picture yet of what the Atto 3 Evo could offer in Australia. Posted to the r/AustralianEV forum on Reddit, it lists two local trims, Dynamic and Premium, alongside full dimensions, battery, charging and equipment details.

The biggest surprise is the omission of an AWD variant. The UK and European Atto 3 Evo range includes a 330kW all-wheel-drive flagship, but this document shows no AWD variant at all. If accurate, Australia's Evo range would top out at the 230kW rear-wheel-drive Premium. Dimensions and Size

Physically, the Atto 3 Evo doesn't grow. Length, width, wheelbase and ground clearance in the leaked document match the current model almost exactly, meaning any extra space comes from repackaging rather than a bigger body. Premium picks up a front boot that isn't offered on the current car, and rear boot capacity grows slightly.

Battery

The Evo Premium's battery is roughly 14.4kWh bigger than today's Atto 3 Premium, a jump of about 24 per cent. The entry Evo Dynamic's keeps the same 60.48kWh pack found in the current Atto 3 Premium, not the smaller 49.9kWh unit fitted to today's entry-level Essential.

Range and Charging

Charging is where the Evo Premium makes its biggest claimed leap. Peak DC power rises from 88kW to 220kW. The Premium also gets 11 kW charging which will significantly reduce charge times for public AC charging.

WLTP range grows by 90km for the Premium thanks to the larger battery. The Atto 3 Premium will have one of the longest driving ranges in the small SUV segment.

Performance: Power, Drive Type and Towing

On paper, Dynamic's outputs are identical to today's Atto 3 Premium: the same 150kW/310Nm motor and the same 0-100km/h time. The real step up sits with Premium, which switches to rear-wheel drive, adds 80kW and 70Nm over the current car, and cuts the 0-100km/h sprint by 1.8 seconds.

Does Australia Miss Out on the AWD Evo?

The UK and European Atto 3 Evo lineup tops out with an all-wheel-drive variant producing 330kW and 560Nm from a dual-motor setup, cutting the 0-100km/h sprint to 3.9 seconds. That variant does not appear anywhere in this leaked Australian document. Only Dynamic and Premium are listed, and both use a single motor.

If the document is accurate and complete, Australia's Evo range would top out at the rear-wheel-drive Premium, without the higher-output all-wheel-drive flagship available overseas. BYD Australia has previously confirmed regulatory approval covering both the 230kW and 330kW outputs, so it remains possible the AWD variant is coming later, is being sold under a different name, or was simply left off this particular set of leaked pages.

Driver Technology and Infotainment

The Evo's instrument cluster grows from a 5-inch strip to an 8.8-inch LCD display, and BYD has added its own voice assistant alongside wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both listed as wireless-only on the current car.

Other Features

Both Evo trims add ventilated front seats, a feature not offered on the current Atto 3 at any price point, and Premium gains dual-zone climate control where today's car is single-zone throughout the range. Surf Blue, the current Premium-exclusive colour, doesn't appear on the leaked document. Atlantis Grey looks to replace it as the Premium-only option.

Price

The document did not outline price and BYD Australia has not released Evo pricing. Given the increasingly competitive small SUV segment which now features the MGS5, GWM Ora 5, Leapmotor B10 and Geely EX5, it is likely the BYD Dynamic price ($39,990 plus ORC) will remain broadly the same and the more powerful Premium is expected to start from at least $45,000 plus ORC.

Given registrations recently opened for the Atto 3 Evo and the current cashback offer, it appears orders for the updated Atto 3 model will open imminently.
