BYD has upgraded its popular Atto 3 electric SUV with the new Atto 3 EVO. The performance-focused model brings significant improvements in power, charging speed, and technology. Built on BYD's latest 800V e-Platform 3.0, the Atto 3 EVO has been approved for sale in Australia and is expected to launch later this year.
The new addition to the Att0 3 line-up was unveiled on BYD’s European website overnight
330kW AWD Performance
The Atto 3 EVO features all-wheel drive with up to 330kW of combined power. This dual-motor setup delivers acceleration from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 200km/h. That's a major step up from the standard Atto 3 and puts it in performance SUV territory alongside the Zeekr X Performance and to a lesser extent the Tesla Model Y Performance.

Rear-wheel Drive Option
The updated Atto 3 Evo will also get a rear-wheel drive version with a 230kW/380Nm motor that’s capable of propelling the SUV through the 0-100km/h dash in 5.5 seconds

800V Architecture and Fast Charging
The biggest upgrade is the new 800V e-Platform 3.0 architecture. This enables DC fast charging at up to 220kW. You can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. The system also supports 11kW AC charging at home with an optional wallbox.
The 800V platform improves efficiency across the entire powertrain. BYD has integrated eight key components into a single unit: drive motor, transmission, onboard charger, DC-DC controller, Vehicle Control Unit, Battery Management System, Motor Control Unit, and Power Distribution Unit. This is the world's first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain.

510km Range with Larger Battery
The Atto 3 EVO will come with larger 74.8kWh lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade battery offering up to 510km of WLTP combined range. It uses BYD's ultra-safe Blade Battery technology, which has passed extreme safety tests. The battery is designed to be strong, safe, and long-lasting.
A high-efficiency heat pump comes as standard. This system uses residual heat from the surroundings, powertrain, and cabin to reduce energy consumption. It helps maintain range in cold weather conditions.

Coming to Australia Later This Year
Good news for Australian buyers. The BYD Atto 3 EVO has been approved for sale in Australia. BYD is expected to launch it later this year. This gives local buyers access to genuine performance in an electric SUV package.
The current BYD Atto 3 has been popular since its launch, selling 5751 units in 2024 and 3861 in 2025. The new variants should build on that success. The EVO model builds on that success with more power, faster charging, and advanced technology. Exact pricing and specifications for the Australian market haven't been confirmed yet.

The BYD Atto 3 EVO represents a major upgrade over the standard model. With 330kW AWD power, 800V fast charging, and 510km range, it competes directly with performance electric SUVs like the Zeekr X, Volvo EX30 and Tesla Model Y. The approval for Australia means local buyers can expect to order BYD’s fastest SUV in Australia later this year.
