Leapmotor has confirmed Australian pricing and specifications for the B05, a coupe-styled electric hatchback that lands in dealerships from late August 2026. The B05 is priced from $35,990 drive-away for the Style variant and $38,990 drive-away for the Design Long Range, positioning it against the MG4 EV, BYD Dolphin and GAC Aion UT.
It is the third EV model Leapmotor has launched in Australia, joining the B10 small SUV and C10 medium SUV. Despite the hatchback body style and hatch-rivalling price, the B05 is a larger car than most of its direct price rivals, with dimensions closer to the BYD Atto 3 small SUV.

Exterior and Interior Design
The B05 was co-developed in Italy with the Stellantis chassis team and tuned at the Balocco proving ground, with Leapmotor saying the car has been specifically tuned to meet Australian driving conditions.
The exterior has a coupe-inspired silhouette, a wide stance and frameless doors, with an active grille shutter and optimised airflow elements aimed at improving range and performance. Signature blade-style LED headlamps sit at the front, with a full-width "Wing Star" LED light bar at the rear.
Inside, both variants get a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen and 8.8-inch driver display running Leapmotor's LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system, matte metallic finishes on the air vents, centre console and steering wheel, and an automatic climate control system with a heat pump. Cargo capacity is up to 1,205 litres with the rear seats folded, and the cabin has 25 storage compartments.
The Design LR adds TechnoLeather seats certified by OEKO-TEX, power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, a 12-speaker surround sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting, rear privacy glass and a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade controlled through the Leapmotor app.

Range, Battery and Charging
The Style variant uses a 56.2kWh LFP battery for up to 401km of WLTP range, while the Design LR steps up to a 67.1kWh LFP battery for up to 482km of WLTP range. Both figures are Leapmotor's claimed WLTP figures and have not been independently verified.
Both variants support 11kW AC charging. On DC fast charging, the Style supports up to a claimed rate that gets a 30-80 percent charge in approximately 16 minutes, while the Design LR supports up to 174kW DC, enabling a 30-80 percent charge in approximately 18 minutes.
Performance
Both variants use a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 240Nm of torque. Leapmotor quotes a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds for the Design LR. The B05 uses a rear-wheel-drive layout with a 50:50 weight distribution, and includes a Launch Control function for standing-start acceleration.
The B05 uses Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) architecture, integrating the battery pack directly into the vehicle structure. Leapmotor says this reduces weight, improves structural rigidity and maximises interior space.
Technology and Safety
The B05 comes with a 7-airbag system, including a centre airbag, and 21 ADAS features supported by 14 sensors and cameras, delivering Level 2 driver assistance. New features over previous Leapmotor models include Automatic Lane Change, Front Vehicle Departure Warning, Front Cross Traffic Assist and Front Cross Traffic Brake.
Both variants get a 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines, an integrated 360-degree dashcam recorder, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, an air-cooled 50W wireless phone charger, and over-the-air software updates. The Leapmotor app provides remote climate control, vehicle status monitoring, live location, geo-fencing alerts and digital key functionality.
How It Compares With the Competition
The B05 measures 4,430mm long, 1,880mm wide, with a 2,735mm wheelbase. That makes it noticeably larger than the small hatchbacks it is priced against, and closer in footprint to the BYD Atto 3 small SUV, which measures 4,455mm long and 1,875mm wide.
