  • It is Geely's third model and second full-electric model in Australia after the EX5, and becomes the country's second-cheapest new EV behind the BYD Atto 1.

Geely Auto Australia has announced pricing and specifications for the EX2 electric hatchback, ahead of its arrival in dealerships nationwide from late July 2026. The EX2 is priced from $26,490 plus on-road costs for the entry Complete variant, rising to $30,990 for the flagship Inspire.

The EX2 is Geely's third model for the Australian market and its second full-electric model after the EX5 mid-size SUV, joining the EX5 and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid in local showrooms. At $26,490, it becomes the second-cheapest new EV on sale in Australia, behind only the BYD Atto 1.

Pricing and Launch Offer

Two variants make up the local EX2 range. The Complete opens the range at $26,490 plus on-road costs, while the Inspire tops out the range at $30,990 plus on-road costs.

Geely is running a launch offer from 12 July to 31 August 2026. Buyers who order and take delivery of an EX2 in that window get a complimentary 7kW home EV charger and a premium paint upgrade worth up to $600. Geely is also offering a 0.68 per cent comparison rate on a 36-month finance term, based on a secured consumer fixed-rate loan of $30,000 over five years.

Power and Performance

The entry Complete variant uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing 60kW and 150Nm, fed by a 35.3kWh LFP battery good for up to 252km of range on the WLTP cycle. The flagship Inspire steps up to an 85kW/150Nm motor and a larger 47.1kWh battery, extending WLTP range to 345km. Both battery packs use liquid cooling.

The EX2 is rear-wheel drive, paired with a multi-link independent rear suspension rather than the torsion beam setup common in the segment. Geely says the layout allows a 41-degree maximum front steering angle and a 9.9m turning circle. Australian-spec cars get a ride and handling tune developed with Geely Technology Europe, the operation formerly known as Lotus Tech Innovation Centre GmbH, aimed at European and Australian driving preferences.

Space, Comfort and Technology

The EX2 sits on Geely's Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA), the same platform underpinning the EX5 and Starray EM-i. Geely says the modular structure allows an inclined heat dissipation module that expands frunk space to 70 litres, wider door apertures, a compact rear drive unit that increases boot depth and length, and an integrated frame seat design that frees up 28 litres of under-seat storage.

Geely counts more than 30 storage spaces throughout the cabin, alongside the 70-litre frunk, a 375-litre boot and a 10-litre drawer-style glovebox. Both grades get a 14.6-inch central touchscreen with built-in satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The Complete runs a 4-speaker system, stepping up to 6 speakers and 256-colour dynamic ambient lighting on the Inspire, which also adds LED vanity mirrors, heated seats, a heated steering wheel and a power tailgate.

Safety

Advanced passive and active safety is standard from Complete specification, including Evasive Manoeuvre Assist (EMA), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Auto Lane Change Assist (ALC). The Complete also gets 7 airbags, rear parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot detection and traffic sign recognition, among other systems. The Inspire adds a 360-degree around-view monitor with a transparent view mode. Geely has not stated whether the EX2 has been submitted for ANCAP or Euro NCAP testing.

Design and Colours

Both variants ride on 16-inch wheels, covered steel on the Complete and alloy on the Inspire, wrapped in Yokohama tyres. Semi-concealed door handles with keyless entry and tech-style LED lighting front and rear round out the exterior. Six exterior colours are offered: standard Moon White, plus five premium finishes at a $600 option, Star Silver, Comet Grey, Nebula Beige, Aurora Green and Nova Pink. The Inspire adds a contrasting black roof and metallic side accents. Inside, Horizon Grey leather-like upholstery is standard, with a no-cost Skyline White trim available exclusively on the Inspire.

How the EX2 Compares on Price and Specs

The EX2 lands in a crowded field of affordable EVs. It's also noticeably bigger than the BYD Atto 1, running 145mm longer, 85mm wider and on a 150mm longer wheelbase (4,135mm/1,805mm/2,650mm vs 3,990mm/1,720mm/2,500mm), though height is close at 1,580mm vs 1,590mm. Below is how the Complete and Inspire stack up against the BYD Atto 1 and MG4 EV Urban on price, battery, range, acceleration and charging. EX2 and Atto 1 prices are plus on-road costs; MG4 Urban prices are drive-away, so the real gap will vary by state.

The Atto 1 Essential remains the cheapest EV in Australia, and the Atto 1 Premium undercuts the EX2 Inspire with more range. The EX2 Complete's range sits between the two Atto 1 grades. Against the MG4 EV Urban, the EX2 is cheaper at both ends but offers less range and slower DC charging than the Urban Essence 54.

The World's Best-Selling Small EV

In China, the EX2 is sold as the Geely Geome Xingyuan, part of Geely's Galaxy new energy vehicle brand. Geely says the Xingyuan and its international name variants delivered 459,960 units worldwide in the A and B vehicle segments in 2025. Geely claim the EX2 is the world's best-selling small EV and the overall best-selling model in China for 2025. Industry sales stats put the Xingyuan ahead of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Tesla Model Y and BYD Seagull, making it the top-selling car of any type in China for the year.
