BYD has officially opened pre-orders for its upcoming Atto 1 electric hatchback and Atto 2 electric SUV, ahead of their launch in Australia later this year.

Australian buyers can now configure and reserve either model online with a fully refundable $1,000 deposit, giving early adopters a chance to secure delivery before prices are announced.

The launch marks a significant step in BYD’s plan to make electric vehicles accessible to more Australians. Both models promise modern design, practical range, and advanced charging technology at an affordable price point.

How Affordable Will the Atto 1 and Atto 2 Be?

The smaller Atto 1 is expected to be Australia’s most affordable electric vehicle with a price target of around $25,000. This would make it one of the lowest-cost EVs ever sold in the country.

Meanwhile, the Atto 2 is projected to start near $35,000, positioning it between BYD’s Dolphin (from $29,990) and Atto 3 (from $39,990). Despite its larger size and extra features, it remains one of the most budget-friendly electric SUVs available.

Recent sightings have already confirmed Atto 2 units arriving at local BYD storage facilities, with photos circulating among EV enthusiasts. Many believe BYD is preparing for an early rollout to meet growing pre-order demand before Christmas.
