Both PHEV grades use a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110kW and 240Nm. It is paired with a front motor and a rear motor. GWM claims combined outputs of 320kW and 670Nm, and a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.
The battery is 33.7kWh. GWM's release describes it as lithium iron phosphate (LFP). GWM claims up to 137km of electric range on the WLTP cycle and up to 844km of combined range with the petrol engine. The company says this allows many daily commutes to be completed on electric power alone.
GWM claims combined fuel consumption of 0.9L/100km and electricity consumption of 242Wh/km. The fuel tank holds 55 litres. The hybrid makes up to 182kW, reaches 100km/h in 7.0 seconds and has claimed fuel use of 7.0L/100km. It needs no external charging. GWM notes that its figures come from laboratory testing and are for comparison between vehicles only.

Charging and vehicle-to-load
GWM says the H7 PHEV can charge from 30 to 80 per cent on a DC fast charger in 19 minutes. The car uses a CCS2 charge port. GWM's release does not give the peak DC charging power or the AC charging rate.
The PHEV also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) with a maximum output of 6kW. This lets the high-voltage battery power compatible equipment, which GWM says suits camping, touring and outdoor activities. The hybrid does not offer V2L.
Hi4 all-wheel drive, towing and size
Hi4 is GWM's all-wheel-drive system, standard across the H7 range. GWM says it uses the electrified drivetrain to support efficiency and traction on sealed roads, loose surfaces and tougher terrain. The PHEV has eight drive modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, 4WD, Snow, Sand, Mud and Towing. A locking rear differential and launch control are also standard.
GWM lists a braked towing capacity of 1,500kg and an unbraked capacity of 750kg. Payload is 500kg and water wading depth is 580mm.

How the H7 PHEV compares on price
The H7 will compete with the Toyota RAV4 PHEV and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The prices listed are not like for like. GWM's prices are driveaway, while the rivals' prices are before on-road costs. The grades also differ in equipment.
Model | Price | Price basis |
GWM Haval H7 Lux PHEV AWD | $49,990 | Driveaway (launch price) |
GWM Haval H7 Vanta PHEV AWD | $53,990 | Driveaway |
Toyota RAV4 XSE 2WD PHEV | $58,840 | Before on-road costs |
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ES AWD | $58,990 | Before on-road costs |
On list price, the RAV4 XSE 2WD is $8,850 above the H7 Lux PHEV and the Outlander ES AWD is $9,000 above. Once on-road costs are added to the rivals, the gap widens. At the entry level, the cheapest H7 hybrid matches the entry Toyota RAV4 GX 2WD hybrid on sticker price at $45,990, though GWM's figure is driveaway.
Where the H7 sits in GWM's range
The H7 joins the H6 and H6GT as GWM's third mid-size SUV. GWM positions the H6 as the family-focused choice and the H6GT as the sportier, coupe-inspired option. The H7 is the more rugged, adventure-focused alternative. It is on sale through GWM's national network of 130 dealers. GWM says it wants to become a top-five brand in Australia and expects the H7 to drive growth in the medium SUV segment.
GWM first showed the new H7 at Everything Electric Sydney in September. GWM says pre-launch interest was at record levels, with more than 1,500 expressions of interest after the show. The outgoing H7 sold 837 vehicles in the first nine months of 2026.
