On electric range, the RAV4 PHEV claims 105km (2WD) and 100km (AWD). That is competitive but not class-leading. The Chery Tiggo 9 leads with 170km, the MG HS and BYD Sealion 8 both claim 120km, and the Volkswagen Tayron claims 117km. The Ford Escape is the weakest at 69km.
The RAV4 PHEV is quick. The XSE 2WD does 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds and the AWD in 5.7 seconds. Only the BYD Sealion 8 (4.9 sec) and Chery Tiggo 9 (5.4 sec) are faster. The Outlander PHEV (7.9 sec) and Ford Escape (10.5 sec) are noticeably slower.
Where the RAV4 stands out is brand trust, dealer network and resale value. Toyota has a strong track record with hybrid technology in Australia. For buyers who want a known quantity with solid after-sales support, the RAV4 PHEV makes a strong case even at its price point.
When Does It Go on Sale?
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV is available to pre-order now. First deliveries to Australian customers are expected in late Q3 2026. Toyota dealers will have the new RAV4 in showrooms from March 2026.
Toyota Australia says it has enough stock to meet current demand. The local arm is carefully managing stock levels to protect resale values.
