- Nevo is being considered for Australia, but no local launch is confirmed.
Australia could be in line for another Chinese electric vehicle brand as Changan expands its international operations, with its Nevo marque preparing to enter Europe in 2027.
The Chinese automotive group, which owns both Deepal and Avatr, has confirmed plans to introduce Nevo models in Spain before expanding into other European markets. While an Australian launch has not been confirmed, the brand is understood to be under consideration as Changan builds its factory backed presence overseas.
The move would give Australian buyers another potential source of electric SUVs and sedans, adding to the growing number of Chinese manufacturers competing in the local market.

Three New Models Revealed
Changan has unveiled three Nevo models for its European expansion: the Q05 electric SUV, the larger Q06 SUV and the A06 sedan. The Q05 is expected to arrive first, with sales in Spain scheduled to begin in early 2027.
The compact Q05 measures 4435mm long, making it slightly larger than a Hyundai Kona. In right hand drive markets such as Thailand, it is offered with a front mounted electric motor producing 120kW and 190Nm, paired with a 51.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.
That version has a claimed range of 462km under the NEDC testing standard. European specifications may differ, and Changan has not confirmed the final configurations for every market.
The larger Q06 SUV and A06 sedan offer a broader choice of powertrains. Both are available as battery electric vehicles or extended range electric vehicles in China, giving buyers the option of conventional battery electric driving or a system that uses a petrol engine to extend driving range.
Their electric versions also offer longer claimed ranges, depending on battery configuration.

Changan Has Bigger Global Plans
Nevo's European arrival is part of a wider expansion strategy for Changan, which is also looking to establish a manufacturing presence in the region.
At the Paris motor show, Changan Europe executive deputy general manager Ethan Yin said the company was targeting annual manufacturing capacity of 180,000 vehicles by the end of 2028, increasing to 350,000 units by 2030.
The company is discussing its plans with potential partners, with further details expected before the end of 2026.
Changan's wider electric vehicle portfolio already includes the Deepal E07, sold in Australia and known as the Nevo brand in China. The model is based on the company's SDA electrified architecture, which also underpins the Nevo A06 and Q06.
The expansion also highlights how Chinese manufacturers are increasingly using multiple brands to target different parts of the market, from mainstream electric vehicles to more premium offerings.

What This Means For Australia
Nevo's potential arrival would give Changan another way to compete in Australia's increasingly crowded electric vehicle market.
The company already has a local presence through Deepal, which is distributed by independent importer Inchcape. However, Nevo and premium brand Avatr are expected to be distributed through factory backed Changan operations if they launch locally.
Avatr is already preparing for its Australian debut, with pre orders for the 07L electric SUV promised before the end of 2026 and first deliveries expected in 2027. Local pricing and specifications are expected to be announced in late November or December.
Nevo's Australian prospects remain less certain. The brand is understood to be under consideration for a local launch, but Changan has not confirmed a date, vehicle selection or pricing for Australia.
If it does arrive, the Q05 could provide a compact electric SUV option, while the Q06 and A06 would potentially broaden the range into larger SUVs and sedans. For Australian buyers, the key questions will be local pricing, driving range under Australian conditions, equipment levels and how the vehicles are supported after purchase.
For now, Nevo's European expansion is confirmed, while its next move in Australia remains a possibility rather than a firm commitment.
