Avatr's second model for Australia
The 06T follows the Avatr 07L, a five-seat electric SUV about the size of a Tesla Model Y L. The 07L is due in the first half of 2027 as Avatr's debut model in Australia.
Avatr has ties to major battery maker CATL. Haurissa said the brand wants to compete directly with established German premium brands, and position itself as a more luxurious option than Geely-owned Zeekr.
Based on the Avatr 06 sedan
The 06T was unveiled at the 2026 Beijing motor show. It is based on the Avatr 06 sedan, which launched in China in 2025.
The 06 sedan has not been confirmed for markets outside China. It competes with cars such as the Polestar 4 and is a more luxurious alternative to the Mazda 6e, which is built in China by a Changan joint venture.
The wagon changes more than the roofline. It gets redesigned flush door handles to meet new Chinese regulations, plus roof rails rated to carry 75kg.

Inside the 06T
A 35.4 inche panoramic display runs along the base of the windscreen. Below it sits a 15.6 inche central touchscreen. Digital side mirrors use 6.7-inch screens at each end of the dashboard.
A 25-speaker sound system is available. Export models, including Australian cars, are expected to get Meridian-branded audio, as confirmed for the 07L.
Huawei supplies the driver assistance technology. Which functions will be available in Australia is yet to be confirmed.

Australian pricing and the FBT cap
Avatr has not announced Australian pricing or specifications. Pricing is expected the 06T to be slightly below the 07L SUV, in the same way the Zeekr 7GT sits against the Zeekr 7X.
Avatr expect the 06T to carry a modest premium over an equivalent Zeekr model. The Zeekr 7GT launches locally later this year, with first deliveries in early 2027 and expected pricing of $55,000 to $75,000.
Changes to the federal fringe benefits tax exemption are also shaping Avatr's plans. From April 2027, the revised exemption will favour EVs priced at $75,000 or less.
Avatr's Australian roll-out
Avatr plans to open about 10 Australian dealerships at first, with at least one in each major city. It plans to expand as its range grows to four or five models by the end of 2028.
The brand recently revealed the T09, a large luxury SUV pitched against the Zeekr 9X. It is also coming to Australia, but not until 2028.

The 06T goes on sale in Europe first. Australian pricing, standard equipment and the final powertrain are likely to be confirmed early next year, ahead of the late-2027 launch.
