If you've plugged in at a Woolworths carpark in the last few years, there's a good chance you've used an Autel charger without knowing it. The brand has quietly become one of the most widely deployed EV charging suppliers in Australia, sitting behind the scenes at some of the country's biggest retail and commercial sites.
Autel has delivered around 10,000 AC and 900 DC charge ports across Australian homes and businesses in under five years. At current growth rates, it won't be long until its deployment volumes put it in the same company as household names like Tesla, Zappi and Ocular, even though most drivers know those brands far better by name.
From car diagnostics to charging infrastructure
Autel isn't a startup or a re-seller of equipment from another manufacturer. The company has built its reputation since 2004 as a major player in automotive diagnostics, the scanning tools mechanics use to read fault codes and service vehicles. That engineering background carried over when Autel expanded into EV charging hardware, and it shows in the design and engineering of its products. Its products are designed with not just the customer in mind, but installers as well. One standout example is the one click install feature on Autel's AC chargers, which significantly reduces the complexity and installation time for electricians.
Where Autel sits in Australia
It is no coincidence that Autel has identified Australia as one of its key strategic markets. The rapid growth of EV uptake and the high level of home charging make Australia an ideal market for Autel's expanding AC charger line-up. Autel's local operations are supported through a Brisbane office, with a warehousing centre in the works to keep hardware, spare parts and support closer to Australian customers. Rather than selling direct, Autel distributes its charging hardware in Australia through JET Charge, one of the country's largest EV charging infrastructure companies. JET Charge is Autel's channel partner for local sales, installation, warranty and customer support, and also works with Autel on applications for government charging subsidies.

That partnership has put Autel hardware into some notable rollouts. Woolworths has installed Autel AC and DC chargers across multiple store sites, including a flagship North Parramatta location featuring both AC and DC chargers. IKEA Australia has deployed Autel chargers across seven locations to support its delivery fleet, with 83 percent of IKEA deliveries now running zero-emission as a result. NRMA and freight operator Transit Systems round out the list of major customers using Autel hardware in Australia.
Autel's APAC leadership has pointed to Australia's similarities with the US and Europe, in charging habits, regulation and customer expectations, as the reason the local market keeps attracting investment even while it remains small on a global scale.
Built for Australian conditions
Reliability is where Autel makes its case most directly. The company's newer DC hardware includes automatic dual SIM failover, so a charger switches to a backup network connection if the primary one drops out, addressing one of the most common causes of downtime at public and commercial sites. On the AC side, Autel's chargers have some of the widest operating temperatures in the market, relevant in a market where 40°C-plus heatwaves in Melbourne and Sydney have exposed weaknesses in less robust charging hardware deployed in shopping centre carparks and underground sites.
Autel also backs its hardware with industry leading warranty terms. Most of the current AC lineup carries a 3 to 5-year warranty depending on the model, with the AC Single range backed by a JET Charge exclusive 5-year warranty from installation, among the longest available on any home charger sold in Australia.
Autel's reputation for reliability is also backed by independent data. Danish charge point management software provider Monta tracks uptime and charging success rate across 260,000 connected chargers worldwide, mostly in Europe, and publishes an annual performance ranking. In its 2025 ranking, the Autel MaxiCharger DC Fast placed sixth out of the top ten performing DC fast charger models globally. It recorded the second-highest uptime score of the top ten, at 98.17 percent. This is the same equipment being used at a number of the Woolworths sites running on the Chargefox network. While the report is focused on DC fast chargers, it's also a reflection of the focus on reliability Autel pursues for all its charging products, DC or AC.
AC chargers for homes and businesses
Autel is also focused on delivering quality charging products for Australian homes. Autel's Australian AC range covers everything from budget single-phase units to commercial-grade hardware, all sold and supported through JET Charge:
- AC Lite - The entry-level model, 7.4kW single-phase, OCPP 1.6J, RFID and app control, 4-year warranty. Priced from around $799 to $880, it competes directly with popular models like the Tesla Wall Connector.
- AC Single - Available in 7.4kW single-phase and 22kW three-phase variants, with WiFi-only or WiFi+4G connectivity, and display or non-display options. Supports dual OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1, RFID authentication, and carries the range's 5-year warranty. With optional CT accessories, it integrates with home solar PV systems, managing household energy use to maximise EV charging from excess solar.
What's coming next
Autel previewed the AC Compact 2 at its second Australian Innovation Forum in Sydney in June 2026, a smart home charger aimed at a sub-$700 price point. It is scheduled to go on sale in October 2026, pending Australian RCM certification. Alongside it, Autel also launched the DH100 and DH120, a new generation of slim DC fast chargers designed for space-constrained carpark bays, at just 250mm deep.
