Polestar has launched a new SUV version of its Polestar 4, adding a more practical body style alongside the existing coupe. The Polestar 4 SUV keeps the same design, technology and drivetrains as the coupe, but swaps the sloping roofline for a straighter one with an upright tailgate, adding more cargo space and roof load capacity.
Polestar 4 SUV pricing starts at $73,900 for the Rear motor variant and $81,750 for the Dual motor variant, undercutting the equivalent Polestar 4 coupe despite offering a bigger battery and more range. Production is under way in Busan, South Korea, with the first Australian deliveries due in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Design and interior
The Polestar 4 SUV carries over the coupe's dual blade headlights, illuminated Polestar badge and overall stance. Polestar redesigned the rear end with a straighter roofline and a more upright tailgate to add cargo space and reinforce the SUV's practical intent. Full-length roof rails are standard, raising the dynamic roof load capacity to 100kg.
The exterior colour range grows to eight shades, adding Aurora, a bright silver green, and Ozone Matte, a bright silver purple matte finish.

Inside, the SUV follows the same design as the coupe. Ambient lighting themed around the solar system lets occupants change the cabin mood, paired with Star Knit interior trim. The main touchscreen and driver display keep their landscape orientation, and the number of widget shortcuts on the home screen rises from six to nine.
A 12-speaker, 1,400-watt Harman Kardon Premium Sound system is available as an option, tuned specifically for the SUV body.
Interior materials are chosen with sustainability in mind. The standard MicroTech trim uses a backing made from 100 per cent recycled PET and a PVC surface with 53 per cent bio-attributed content. The optional Tailored Knit upholstery is made from 89 per cent recycled PET and is 3D-knitted to cut production waste. Bridge of Weir Nappa leather, also optional, is a chrome-free by-product of the food industry that meets animal welfare standards and can be traced to its origin.

One change from the coupe stands out: the Polestar 4 SUV gets a rear window and a conventional rear-view mirror as standard. The digital rear-view mirror that launched on the Polestar 4 coupe, used partly because that car has no rear window, remains available as an option for buyers who want a wider field of view with the boot loaded.
The second row also gains an extra 2.5cm of headroom over the coupe thanks to the more upright rear end. A larger panoramic glass roof is standard, stretching all the way back to the tailgate and blocking 99.5 per cent of UV rays. An optional electrochromic glass roof, unique to the SUV, adds an electrically dimmable layer that can be set to fully transparent, fully tinted, or partially shaded sections from the centre screen.
Cargo and practicality
Total storage across the Polestar 4 SUV's front and rear compartments comes to 1,680 litres. The rear boot holds 530 litres measured to the seatbacks, or 655 litres measured to the roof. Folding the 60/40 split rear seatbacks extends that to 1,665 litres for larger items.
Polestar 4 SUV vs Polestar 4 coupe: what's different
The SUV doesn't replace the Polestar 4 coupe. Both stay on sale, sharing the same SEA platform, drivetrains and interior tech, but with different bodies, cargo capacity and pricing.

Powertrains and performance
Polestar 4 SUV uses the same SEA architecture as the coupe and is offered with two drivetrains. The Rear motor produces 200kW and 343Nm, reaching 100km/h in 7.3 seconds and covering up to 630km WLTP on a charge. The Dual motor all-wheel-drive version steps up to 400kW and 686Nm, cutting the 0-100km/h sprint to 3.9 seconds with up to 600km of WLTP range.
A 100kWh battery is standard across the range. DC charging tops out at 200kW, and 22kW AC charging is available as an option in selected markets.

Joakim Rydholm, Head of Driving Dynamics at Polestar
Polestar 4 SUV builds on the dynamic foundation of the recently sharpened Polestar 4 coupe. With refined chassis tuning and enhanced steering response, it delivers the confidence, precision and driving engagement that Polestar customers expect, in all driving conditions.
Inside, the drivetrain shows up in the trim. The Rear motor gets an all-black seatbelt and rotary control knob, the Dual motor adds a gold stripe to both, and Performance pack cars get full Swedish gold seatbelts and rotary knob.

Vehicle-to-Load and camping mode
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) turns the Polestar 4's battery into a portable power source, supplying AC power to camping gear, power tools and other electronics. It delivers up to 3.3kW (16A, single-phase 230V) through a certified adapter sold separately through Polestar's Extras web shop. The car keeps supplying power until it reaches a minimum battery level the driver sets in the centre display.
V2L is coming to all Polestar 4 vehicles, not only the SUV, through a future software update. Polestar has not given a firm date for the rollout.
The SUV also introduces a new Camping mode, which turns a parked car into a climate-controlled space at the touch of the screen. It provides access to entertainment, ambient lighting and vehicle controls from both front and rear displays, and draws on V2L power along with USB-C connectivity and the 12V outlet.
Google Gemini and connectivity
Google Gemini replaces Google Assistant as the voice system across all Polestar 4 vehicles. Polestar says Gemini understands context and supports multi-turn conversation, letting drivers complete more complex tasks using everyday speech rather than fixed commands.
Beyond vehicle functions, Gemini Live adds hands-free features such as brainstorming, trip planning and real-time translation. Polestar says Gemini is rolling out across 22 countries in 16 languages, with some connected apps requiring separate setup.
Sustainability
Polestar says the Polestar 4 SUV has one of the lowest carbon footprints in its model line-up, helped by low-carbon and recycled materials. The cradle-to-gate carbon footprint is 21.1 tonnes of CO2 equivalent for the Dual motor variant and 20.2 tonnes for the Rear motor.
The reductions come mainly from the battery and aluminium supply chains. Polestar says battery cell production uses 100 per cent renewable electricity, aluminium sourced from renewable-powered smelters makes up 34 per cent of total aluminium content, and 23 per cent of the aluminium used is recycled.
