Editor's note: This article was updated to remove an earlier reference to pre-orders being open for the 8X, 9X and 7GT. Zecar could not confirm a national pre-order process was live, and has reframed the piece around what Zeekr has confirmed about the models' Australian launch.
Zeekr is preparing to bring three new models to Australia: the 8X, 9X and 7GT. All three have been publicly confirmed for the local market, though Zeekr has not locked in a single launch timeline.
The current Zeekr lineup has three models available in Australia: the X, 7X and 009. The addition of the 8X, 9X and 7GT would take the local range to six models.
What's confirmed on timing
All three models have been publicly confirmed for Australia, but the rollout has not been locked into a single timeline.
Zeekr International CEO Mars Chen has said the brand has not yet decided whether the 8X or 9X will launch first in Australia, telling media both models will arrive roughly six months apart, with one landing around the end of 2026 and the other in early 2027.
Zeekr Australia Managing Director Frank Li has separately said the 9X flagship is expected before the end of 2026, and that it is difficult to say exactly where the 7GT will land in the queue, though a very late 2026 or early 2027 arrival is considered likely.
Industry reporting has consistently described all three models as arriving within an 18-month window, rather than as a simultaneous three-model launch.
Where the 8X, 9X and 7GT will sit in the range
The 8X and 9X are both plug-in hybrids, not fully electric models, combining electric motors with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Zeekr has said it is considering fully electric versions of both down the track, but neither will launch in Australia as a battery-electric vehicle. We've outlined possible specs based on overseas models, these have not been confirmed for Australia.
Because they are plug-in hybrids, neither the 8X nor the 9X will qualify for Australia's Fringe Benefits Tax exemption available on novated leases for eligible electric vehicles, unlike the fully electric 7X and the upcoming 7GT.

The 8X sits a size class below the 9X. It is expected to be priced from roughly $80,000 plus on-roads, targeting the BMW X5 and Audi Q7.

The 8X sits a size class down, expected to be priced between roughly $85,000 and $130,000 depending on variant, targeting the BMW X5 and Audi Q7.

Zeekr's momentum in Australia
The 7X mid-size electric SUV has become Zeekr's best-selling model in Australia, passing 5,000 deliveries in under eight months on sale and recently being named Drive's Car of the Year for Best Medium SUV Under $60k.
The updated Zeekr X small electric SUV has also picked up pace following a 2026 price cut, with more than 1,200 orders recorded in its first six weeks on sale at the new pricing.
Zeekr Australia has signalled it intends to keep adding new models at pace. The 8X, 9X and 7GT would take the local lineup from three models to six, alongside continued reporting that the smaller 001 sedan is also being considered for an Australian launch within the next 18 months.
