Lepas Australia has released official specifications for the L6 EV, the car that will introduce the Lepas brand to Australian buyers ahead of a local launch in October 2026. The L6 is a mid-size electric SUV and the first model from Lepas, the newest brand from Chery Group.
The L6 EV is built on Lepas's new intelligent LEX platform, which the brand says is designed to support both battery electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains across future models. Chery Group's battery development work underpins a claimed 440km WLTP range for the L6 EV, along with DC fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent in about 22 minutes.
Design and interior
The L6 has a coupe-style SUV design, with slim LED lighting Lepas describes as inspired by the eyes of a leopard. Exterior specification includes 19-inch machined-finish alloy wheels and a panoramic glass roof.

Battery, range and charging
The L6 EV uses a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, developed with Chery Group's battery technology. A front-mounted electric motor produces 160kW of maximum power and 275Nm of maximum torque, with drive sent to the front wheels only.
Lepas claims a WLTP driving range of 440km, with energy consumption rated at 17.5kWh/100km. DC fast charging takes the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in about 22 minutes. Lepas has not published a peak DC charging figure in kW.
Safety and driver assistance
The L6 comes with seven airbags and a suite of driver assistance technology as standard. Automatic Parking Assist (APA) can steer the car into a parking space with minimal driver input, and a 360-degree Around View Monitor assists with parking and low-speed manoeuvring, including centimetre-level distance displays and alerts.

How the L6 EV compares
Lepas has not confirmed pricing for the L6 EV. On specifications alone, the L6 EV enters a crowded field of mid-size electric SUVs in Australia, including the Tesla Model Y RWD, the BYD Sealion 7 Premium, the Zeekr 7X Standard Range and the updated XPeng G6 Standard Range. Pricing and specifications for those rivals are current at the time of writing and may change.

On claimed range, the L6 EV's 440km trails all four rivals, though it also uses the smallest battery of the group at 65kWh. Its 160kW/275Nm front motor is the least powerful on paper, and Lepas has not disclosed a 0-100km/h time or peak DC charging figure in kW. Without confirmed pricing, it is too early to say whether the L6 EV represents good value against these rivals.
Availability
The L6 EV will be Lepas's first model in Australia, with a local launch planned for October 2026. It will be shown publicly for the first time at Everything Electric at Sydney Olympic Park, running from 18 to 20 September 2026, ahead of that launch.
Lepas has not announced pricing for the L6 EV. The company says pricing and further details will be confirmed closer to the car's Australian launch.
