GWM Australia has made the new Cannon Hi4-T plug-in hybrid (PHEV) ute available in dealerships for test drives, and extended its launch offers until 30 November 2026, the offers were previously due to end on 31 October.
With the $2,000 driveaway bonus applied, the Cannon Hi4-T Lux costs from $47,990 driveaway for eligible ABN holders and $48,990 for private buyers. GWM says that makes it Australia's most affordable plug-in hybrid ute.
Cannon Hi4-T pricing with the extended offer
Customers can choose one of two offers: a $2,000 driveaway bonus or a $2,000 fuel card. The bonus is deducted from the advertised driveaway price. All prices below are driveaway.
Cannon Hi4-T PHEV driveaway pricing
Grade | ABN holders, standard | ABN holders, with $2,000 bonus | Private buyers, standard | Private buyers, with $2,000 bonus |
Lux | $49,990 | $47,990 | $50,990 | $48,990 |
Ultra | $53,990 | $51,990 | $54,990 | $52,990 |

Offer terms and conditions
Both offers apply to vehicles delivered by 30 November 2026, and only while stocks last. The deadline is for delivery, not for placing an order.
A buyer takes either the $2,000 driveaway bonus or the $2,000 fuel card. They cannot have both. GWM says neither offer can be combined with any other offer. The fuel card terms add the words "unless otherwise stated".
The driveaway bonus cannot be redeemed for cash. The fuel card is handed over at delivery, is subject to availability, and is limited to one per eligible vehicle purchase.
Buyers should check the criteria with their dealer. Businesses buying more than one vehicle can also read about EV fleet transition.
What the Cannon Hi4-T offers
The Cannon Hi4-T combines 115km of electric driving on the NEDC cycle with a 3,500kg braked towing capacity and mechanical four-wheel drive. NEDC figures tend to read higher than real-world results, a more realistic WLTP figure should be ~100km.
A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and electric assistance produce 310kW and 750Nm, and the battery is 33.1kWh which is featured in both grades. The Lux and Ultra differ in equipment rather than performance.

How the price compares with rival PHEV utes
The prices below are not like for like. GWM's figures are driveaway, while the JAC Hunter and BYD Shark 6 prices are before on-road costs. Driveaway prices include those costs, so the gap in real terms is larger than the table suggests.
Cannon Hi4-T PHEV vs rival PHEV utes: starting prices
Model | Starting price | Price basis |
GWM Cannon Hi4-T Lux | $47,990 (with bonus), $49,990 (standard) | Driveaway, ABN holders |
JAC Hunter PHEV Pro | $49,988 | Before on-road costs |
BYD Shark 6 Dynamic | $55,900 | Before on-road costs |
The JAC Hunter and BYD Shark 6 prices come from Zecar's earlier coverage. BYD is also running its own cashback offer on the Shark 6, so its effective price may differ. Zecar's list of electric utes covers the wider field.

GWM's two PHEV ute models
The Cannon Hi4-T joins the larger Cannon Alpha Hi4-T and expands GWM's PHEV ute range. Both sit alongside GWM's established diesel utes. GWM says it is now the only manufacturer in Australia to offer two distinct PHEV ute models.
