BYD has launched a $4,000 cashback offer across most of its Australian plug-in hybrid range, plus the electric Sealion 7. The offer covers the Seal 6, Seal 6 Touring, Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 7, Sealion 8 and Shark 6.
It runs for orders placed from 1 October to 21 December 2026. After the cashback, the Sealion 5 Essential works out to $29,990 before on-road costs and the Seal 6 Touring to $35,990. The offer is BYD's largest cashback of 2026 so far, up from $2,500 in July and $3,000 in the April to June period.
Which BYD Models Get $4,000 Cashback?
BYD lists 16 eligible variants on its offers page. The table below shows each variant's list price before on-road costs and the effective price once the $4,000 cashback is taken into account.

Prices exclude on-road costs, which vary by state. The cashback amount is $4,000 including GST. BYD's terms do not state when the cashback is paid, so buyers should confirm timing and the claim process with their dealer.

Key Dates and Eligibility
BYD's terms and conditions set out the following rules for the cashback offer.
- Orders must be placed between 1 October and 21 December 2026.
- Vehicles must be delivered by 31 December 2026.
- If an order placed in the campaign period cannot be delivered by 31 December, BYD Australia will review each case and may approve an extension.
- Fleet customers are not eligible.
- Demonstrator and service loan vehicles are not eligible.
- Transactions involving other promotional offers or discounts are not eligible.
The last condition means the cashback cannot be stacked with BYD's other current offers, such as its promotional finance.
Cashback or 0.99% Finance
Buyers of most eligible models can take a 0.99% p.a. comparison rate finance offer through BYD Financial Services instead of the cashback. The finance offer has a 36-month term, no minimum deposit and no balloon payment.
It applies to the Seal 6, Seal 6 Touring, Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 8 and Shark 6 variants in the cashback offer. The Sealion 7 is not included.
BYD's fine print says the comparison rate is based on a $30,000 secured loan over five years. It excludes government charges and a dealer origination fee of up to $1,495 including GST. Finance must be approved and settled by 21 December 2026. Government, fleet and rental buyers are excluded.
Sealion 7: 6% novated lease discount
The Sealion 7 gets a different alternative. Novated lease customers can take a 6% discount on the base vehicle list price, processed through an approved fleet management organisation.
That offer has a longer delivery window, with orders by 21 December 2026 and delivery by 31 January 2027. The same 6% novated lease discount also applies to the Atto 1, Atto 2, Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal.
Seal 6 and Seal 6 Touring
The Seal 6 sedan comes in a single Essential grade at $34,990 before on-road costs. With the cashback, it works out to $30,990.
The Seal 6 Touring wagon comes in Premium grade only, at $39,990. With the cashback, it drops to $35,990. BYD claims a 670-litre boot, expanding to 1,535 litres with the rear seats folded. The Touring has a 163kW plug-in hybrid system and a 100km WLTP electric range, compared with 55km for the sedan.
Sealion 5, Sealion 6 and Sealion 8
All three Sealion plug-in hybrid SUVs are included across their full Australian line-ups.
Sealion 5
The Sealion 5 Essential is $33,990 and the Premium is $37,990 before on-road costs. After cashback, they work out to $29,990 and $33,990.
Buyers should note the Sealion 5's safety result. On 29 September 2026, ANCAP gave the Sealion 5 a three-star rating, which applies to both variants. It is the first BYD model rated by ANCAP to miss out on five stars.
ANCAP scored it 48% for Safe Driving, 51% for Crash Avoidance, 79% for Crash Protection and 74% for Post Crash. ANCAP noted the lane keeping system did not intervene in road-edge tests and that child presence detection and eCall are not fitted.
Sealion 6
The Sealion 6 Essential is $42,990, the Dynamic Extended is $46,990 and the Premium Extended is $52,990 before on-road costs. After cashback, the range starts at $38,990.
Sealion 8
The seven-seat Sealion 8 Dynamic FWD is $56,990, the Dynamic AWD is $63,990 and the Premium AWD is $70,990. After cashback, the range starts at $52,990.
Sealion 7
The Sealion 7 is the only fully electric model in the cashback offer. The Premium rear-wheel drive is $54,990 and the Performance all-wheel drive is $63,990 before on-road costs. After cashback, they work out to $50,990 and $59,990.
Sealion 7 buyers can choose either the $4,000 cashback or the 6% novated lease discount, but not both.
Shark 6
All three Shark 6 grades are included. The Premium dual-cab is $57,900, the 2.0-litre Performance is $62,900 and the Dynamic Cab Chassis is $55,900 before on-road costs, based on BYD's launch pricing.
After cashback, the Shark 6 Premium works out to $53,900 plus on-road costs. In August and September, BYD offered the same model at $57,900 drive-away with on-road costs included. Depending on your state, the saving under the new offer may be similar to last month's deal, as one OzBargain commenter pointed out.
How This Compares With Earlier BYD Offers
BYD has run a series of cashback and driveaway offers through 2026. The $4,000 offer is larger and covers more variants than recent campaigns.
- August to September 2026: free on-road costs on the Sealion 7 Premium, Sealion 8 Dynamic FWD and Shark 6 Premium, plus $2,000 cashback on the Sealion 8 AWD variants and $3,000 Your Way credit on the Shark 6 Dynamic Cab Chassis.
- July 2026: $2,500 cashback on the Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 8, Shark 6 and Sealion 7 Premium.
- April to June 2026: $3,000 cashback on the Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 8 and Shark 6 Premium.
Separately, the Atto 1 Essential is on a $19,990 driveaway offer and the Dolphin Essential is $28,888 driveaway, both for orders until 15 December 2026. The new Atto 2 DM-i has a launch offer of $25,990 for orders until 24 December 2026.
