MG Motor Australia has unveiled the updated 2026 MG4 EV at the Melbourne Motor Show. The update brings a revised interior, new technology features, improved range and three new exterior colours. Two variants are available: the Essence 64 (rear-wheel drive) from $39,990 drive away, and the XPOWER (all-wheel drive) from $47,990 drive away.
The MG4 EV has been one of the more popular electric hatchbacks in Australia since its launch. The 2026 update focuses on interior quality and technology rather than a full redesign.
What's New in the 2026 MG4 EV
The biggest changes are inside the cabin. MG has addressed the previous MG4’s biggest weak point, its slow and lacklustre infotainment system. MG has replaced the 10.25-inch driver display with a new 10.25-inch LCD unit that can be customised via the central screen. The centre touchscreen has grown from 10.25 inches to 12.8 inches. Physical buttons and dials have been added for air conditioning and volume, addressing a common complaint about the previous model.
Other interior additions include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 6-way adjustable driver's seat and a six-speaker audio system. Boot space is 388 litres with seats up and 1,164 litres with seats folded.

On the outside, the MG4 EV keeps its existing body shape but gains 18-inch wheels and a new aerodynamic rear spoiler. Three new colours are available: Iris Cyan, Sterling Silver and Piccadilly Blue.
Technology updates include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree HD parking camera, integrated apps including Spotify, YouTube, TikTok and Amazon Music, and DAB radio with satellite navigation. MG Pilot ADAS safety systems are standard, with a new Custom Function that lets drivers save preferred safety settings.

Both models are backed by MG's 10-year warranty when serviced within the MG dealer network.
The MG4 EV Urban and the updated MG4 EV together give buyers a choice between a city-focused, budget-friendly option and a more driver-oriented performance hatchback.
