The Polestar 3 will land in Australia in early 2024, as the Sino-Swedish brand’s first ground-up luxury large electric SUV.
The Polestar 3 EV is priced from $132,900 before on-road costs and provides up to 610km of claimed WLTP driving range, featuring Pilot and Plus Packs as standard, a large 14.5-inch Android Automotive touchscreen, and up to 910Nm of torque with the Performance Pack fitted.
The Polestar 3 is eligible for select Australian electric car incentives, but the fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemption for fleets and novated leases does not apply.
The five-seater large SUV can recharge up to 11kW AC and 250kW DC charging speeds via its Type 2/CCS2 port, and has the capability for vehicle-to-grid bidirectional charging.
It also debuts an array of firsts for the Volvo Cars and Geely offshoot performance brand, such as the use of the dedicated Volvo Scalable Product Architecture 2 (SPA2) EV platform; technology powered by Qualcolm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform and Nvidia's Drive computing platform; optional LiDAR safety assist sensors; slim 9-inch digital driver display; NFC key card; and sustainable MicroTech and wool seats.
Polestar also also extended its supply chain tracing for the SUV to ensure materials, including cobalt, lithium, mica, nickel, leather, and animal wool are responsibly sourced for the EV battery and interior.
The Chinese-made Polestar 3 competes with luxury EVs such as the BMW iX, Audi Q8 E-Tron, Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, Genesis Electrified GV70, and related Volvo EX90.
