Key Points

  • Xiaomi has teased its Sky Nomad N90, a full-size SUV and the brand's first extended-range EV.
  • The N90 features an MPV-style cabin with sliding and rotating seats, including front seats that turn 180 degrees.
  • Xiaomi is set to launch in Australia in 2027 starting with the SU7, and the YU7 and Sky Nomad N90 could follow.

Xiaomi has released the first teasers for the Sky Nomad N90 ahead of its official reveal. The N90 is the first vehicle from Xiaomi's new Sky Nomad sub-brand, known as Pengcheng in Chinese, and will be the company's largest and most expensive vehicle to date.

The teasers show a full-size SUV with an MPV-style cabin, sliding and rotating seats, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. Xiaomi has not released full specifications or confirmed a reveal date.

What is the Sky Nomad N90?

The Sky Nomad N90 is Xiaomi's first extended-range EV (EREV) and its first model to move beyond the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. Xiaomi describes it as an intelligent expanding-space SUV, combining an SUV exterior with an MPV-style interior.

The N90 is expected to measure 5.3 metres long with a 3.1 metre wheelbase, making it larger than both the SU7 and YU7. Its flexible cabin points to two seating layouts: a 2+3 five-seat configuration and a 2+3+2 seven-seat configuration.

Exterior design borrows from the SU7 and YU7

Official teasers show blocky headlights that evolve the YU7's rounded design, and looped lightbar taillights similar to those on the Zeekr 9X. Xiaomi says the N90's boxier profile is a deliberate departure from the swoopy styling of the SU7 and YU7.

The cabin-focused shape gives the N90 a silhouette closer to large three-row rivals like the Li Auto L9 and Nio ES8 than to Xiaomi's existing sedan and SUV.

Interior: sliding and rotating seats

Xiaomi has not released photos of the interior. Instead, it published cabin schematics similar to an apartment floor plan, highlighting a flexible layout with sliding and rotating seats.

According to Xiaomi, the cabin can convert into:

  • A studio for one
  • A cafe for two
  • A meeting room for three
  • A playground for the whole family

Leaked interior images support this MPV-style approach. They show a front row with a walk-through centre console, letting occupants move between seats. Xiaomi's teasers suggest the console itself may be movable.

A video teaser confirms the N90 uses a mechanism similar to the Zeekr Mix to rotate its front seats 180 degrees, letting front and rear occupants face each other.

Built for camping and outdoor use

Xiaomi has leaned into the N90's outdoor credentials. Spy shots have previously shown a roof-mounted tent built into the vehicle, and EcoFlow power stations spotted in the second row point to high-power AC outlets and a fold-flat interior for camping trips.

Expected specifications

Xiaomi has not confirmed final specifications, but early details point to a capable EREV powertrain built around a front-mounted range extender and dual-motor all-wheel drive.

Specification

Sky Nomad N90 (Expected)

Length

Approx. 5.3m

Wheelbase

Approx. 3.1m

Seating

5 or 7 seats (2+3 or 2+3+2)

Range Extender

1.5L turbocharged, front-mounted

Drivetrain

Dual-motor AWD (expected)

Battery

70+ kWh, supplied by Sunwoda and CALB

EV Range

400–500km (test cycle unconfirmed)

Total Range

Over 1,500km (test cycle unconfirmed)

Driver Assist Hardware

Roof-mounted LiDAR

These figures are Xiaomi's own estimates and have not been confirmed against a specific test cycle. Real-world range in Australia would likely be lower under WLTP testing than under Chinese CLTC figures, which tend to be more optimistic.

Xiaomi's teasers also show the N90's roof-mounted LiDAR, pointing to advanced driver assistance hardware. The company is expected to release more information ahead of the N90's official reveal.

When could the Sky Nomad N90 come to Australia?

Xiaomi is set to enter the Australian market in early 2027, with the SU7 sedan confirmed as its first model. The YU7 SUV and the Sky Nomad N90 could follow, though Xiaomi has not confirmed timing or availability for either model in Australia.

Given its size and outdoor focus, the N90 could appeal to Australian buyers cross-shopping large seven-seat SUVs. If the incoming Geely 8x EREV SUV becomes a sales success, this would further validate the market potential for the N90. Its arrival, if confirmed, would come after the SU7 and YU7 have established Xiaomi's presence locally.
