Rising EV Adoption in Victoria

The initiative comes at a time when demand for EVs in the state is growing rapidly. Between April and June 2025, Victoria registered 29,244 new battery electric vehicles (BEVs). This surge highlights not only enthusiasm for zero-emission transport but also the urgent need for better charging infrastructure across the state.

Industry experts argue that expanding the charging network and supporting energy innovation will help reduce range anxiety, one of the key barriers to widespread EV adoption in Australia.

Building a Broader Clean Energy Ecosystem

The CivVic EnergyTech Challenge goes beyond EV charging. It also focuses on energy storage systems, renewable grid integration, and digital solutions for energy management. Officials say these efforts will support Victoria’s push to cut transport emissions, improve efficiency, and strengthen the state’s position as a clean technology leader.

“Victoria is open for innovation and serious about meeting its net-zero targets,” LaunchVic CEO said, highlighting the importance of government–startup collaboration in building the next wave of energy solutions.
