EVs have never been cheaper. In fact there appears to be a 'price' war happening with several bands slashing prices before the end of the financial year, some as much as $25,000. Here are the best EV deals available in Australia now.

1. GWM Ora from $35,990 driveaway

The GWM Ora hatch offers distinctive retro styling both inside and out. While storage space is modest, passenger space is generous.

Originally launching at $39,990 plus on-road costs, the 2024 GWM Ora hatch is Australia's cheapest EV priced from $35,990 drive-away.

The most affordable option is the Standard Range model, starting at $35,990 drive-away anywhere in Australia. It offers a driving range of 310 kilometers with a 48kWh battery. The Extended Range, with a 420km range thanks to its 63kWh battery, now has a drive-away price of $40,990.

Looking at the higher-end models, the Ora Ultra costs $43,990 drive-away, while the top-of-the-line GT comes in at $46,990 drive-away. Interestingly, both the Ultra and Extended Range offer a 420km driving range, whereas the GT boasts a slightly lower 400km range.

2. MG4 from $39,990 driveaway

The MG4 hatch offers a 5-star ANCAP safety rated electric vehicle with great interior space for a hatch.

MG started reducing prices for the MG4 in March 2024, making it the second most affordable EV in Australia after the GWM Ora.

The most affordable MG4 option is the 51 kWh base model, starting at $39,990 drive-away. This model offers 350 km of driving range with a 50.8 kWh usable battery. The 64 kWh model which has a driving range of 450 km and 61.7 kWh usable battery pack now has a drive-away price of $44,990

Looking at the higher-end models, the MG4 Long Range has a price of $52,990 drive-away, while the top-of-the-line XPOWER comes in at $59,990 drive-away. The MG4 Long Range has a driving range of 530 km while the performance-oriented XPOWER has a driving range of 385 km.

3. BYD Atto 3 from $45,990 driveaway

The BYD Atto 3 SUV offers a comfortable driving experience in a vehicle that offers generous interior space.

The current deal for 2023 Atto 3 demonstrator models is $45,990 drive-away. This represents a discount of over $6000 compared to ths MSRP of $51,011 plus on-road costs.

The BYD Atto 3 SUV offers a solid 420 km driving range thanks to its 60.5 kWh usable battery. Performance-wise the Atto 3 has a front-wheel powertrain that provides 150 kW of power, making it capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

4. Nissan Leaf from $39,990 driveaway

The Nissan Leaf offers a small, quiet and affordable electric vehicle. Respectable range for a small electric vehicle.

The Nissan Leaf will now start with a more affordable drive-away price but only for a very limited time. Up until May 31 the Nissan Leaf base model will have a drive-away price of $39,990 while the longer range e+ model will have a drive-away price of $49,990.

The base model Nissan Leaf has a driving range 270 km with a 39.0 kWh usable battery pack. For those looking for more driving range and battery capacity, the Nissan Leaf e+ model has a driving range of 385 km thanks to its 59.0 kWh usable battery pack.

5. Renault Megane E-Tech from $57,500 drive-away

The Renault Megane E-Tech offers a good-looking electric vehicle with great efficiency meant for city driving.

The Renault Megane E-Tech will now have a drive-away price of as low as $57,500 and up to $61,400, depending on location. This significant price cut will last up until June 30, 2024 as part of an end-of-year sale.

The Megane E-Tech available in only one model, the Techno, has a driving range 454 kWh with a 60.0 kWh usable battery pack. It has a front-wheel drive motor capable of producing 160 kW of power and allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 7.4 seconds.

6. Polestar 2 from $57,400 before on-road costs

The Polestar 2 offers amazing driving range and improved performance.

The Polestar 2 will now start with more affordable prices but only for a very limited time. Up until June 9, 2024 the base model Standard Range Single Motor will have a price of $57,400 before on-road costs while the performance-oriented model Long Range Dual Motor will have a price of $61,400.

The base model Polestar 2 has an impressive driving range 532 km with a 67.0 kWh usable battery pack. For those looking for more driving range, more battery capacity and even more performance, the Long Range Dual Motor model has a driving range of 591 km thanks to its 79.0 kWh usable battery pack. With its dual motor capable of producing 310 kW of power, the Long Range Dual Motor is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.5s.
