Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised software has quickly gained traction in Australia and New Zealand.

Less than two weeks after its public release, owners have already driven more than one million kilometres with the driver-assist technology engaged.

The milestone highlights both strong adoption among early users and growing momentum for autonomous driving features in right-hand-drive markets.

Record Distances in Early Rollout

The rapid uptake follows a world-first demonstration last week, when a Model Y successfully circumnavigated Australia using FSD Supervised. That single journey covered 13,500 kilometres, showcasing the software’s ability to handle diverse driving conditions across the country.

Tesla confirmed the million-kilometre milestone on its Australia and New Zealand X account, noting that owners are collectively driving about 80,000 kilometres per day with FSD Supervised active. For perspective, that is equivalent to 67 laps around Australia or more than 600 trips from Auckland to Invercargill.

Growing Accessibility Through Subscriptions

The rollout of FSD Supervised began on September 18, making Australia the first right-hand-drive market to access the system. The company has since expanded availability with a subscription option, priced at AUD $149 per month in Australia and NZD $159 in New Zealand.

This subscription model is expected to broaden usage, particularly among Tesla owners who did not purchase the software outright. A large portion of the fleet still operates on older Hardware 3 systems, but Tesla has indicated that further updates could extend access to more vehicles in the near future.
