The BYD Seal is the larger car overall, but not by much.

The Tesla Model 3 offers superior charging performance across both AC and DC Charging.

On the home AC charging front the Model 3 provides faster charging speeds. The Model 3 charges at 11kW and can reach a full charge in 8 hours and 15 minutes. The BYD Seal charges at 7kW and will take 9 hours to reach a full charge.

Using public DC charging, the Tesla Model 3 tops ups faster. The Model 3 Performance charges at a maximum rate of 250kW and can reach 10% to 80% in about 32 minutes. The BYD Seal Performance charges at maximum rate of 150kW and will take about 38 minutes for the same level of charge.

The BYD Seal features the larger battery pack at 82.6kWh which provides more energy for range but also results in higher weight. It should be noted the Seal battery uses the LFP chemistry which benefits from charging to 100%, whereas the Model 3's NMC/NCA chemistry means charging is typically recommended to 90%.

The BYD Seal offers the advantage of V2L which allows you to use the car's battery as a mobile power bank. This could be useful for camping, road trips and potentially in the event of a blackout.
