Polestar 2 discounts of up to $10,000 available in Australia

Polestar is currently offering considerable discounts on its Polestar 2 electric lift-back sedan. These discounts are aimed at boosting sales in a rapidly growing and increasingly competitive EV market.

Discounts range from $5000 for the Standard Range Single Motor variant to as much as $10,000 for the Long Range Dual Motor variant, inclusive of vehicles equipped with the Performance Pack.

Discount availability and eligibility

These significant price reductions apply to new Model Year 2024 Polestar 2 vehicles ordered by April 30, 2024, and delivered by May 31, 2024. Both in-stock cars and custom orders are eligible for this offer.

Eligibility for this discount is aimed at private buyers as well as ABN holders. Government, rental companies, and other fleets are not eligible for these discounts. Head to Polestar's website for more details.

Cheaper than a Model 3 for some variants

When comparing prices with Tesla's Model 3, the entry-level Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor is slightly more costly than the cheapest Tesla Model 3 RWD.

The Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, however, is now a more affordable alternative to the Tesla Model 3 Long Range; although, when factoring in additional option packs to match Tesla's features, the price climbs significantly.

Sales figures indicate that Polestar is trailing behind Tesla, with only 264 Polestar 2 units sold in the first two months of 2024. This figure denotes a sharp decline compared to the previous year and pales in comparison to over 4300 Tesla Model 3 units delivered during the same timeframe. Despite a rise in sales in 2023 for Polestar, half of these were attributed to 'business' registrations, underscoring the popularity of the vehicle in subscription services geared toward ride-share drivers.
