Global AI and gaming powerhouse Micro-Star International (MSI) is making a bold entry into Australia’s electric vehicle (EV) market, aiming to bridge the gap between EV adoption and the country’s still-developing charging infrastructure.
MSI’s EZgo Portable Charger and EV Series are designed specifically for Australia’s diverse climate and will make their debut at the Everything Electric Australia NSW show in Sydney from March 7-9. With the backing of Australian intelligent socket provider NOX Energy, MSI is bringing versatile charging solutions to Australian drivers, offering a convenient, on-the-go option to combat range anxiety.

Charging the Future: MSI’s Vision for Australia’s EV Market
Australia’s EV market is growing at an impressive pace, with nearly one in ten new cars sold in 2024 being electric (9.65%), a jump from 8.45% in 2023. However, despite this progress, charging infrastructure remains a significant concern. Public fast-charger numbers have doubled recently, now exceeding 1,800 across 1,000 locations, but coverage gaps still force many drivers to rely heavily on home charging.
MSI Australia general manager Jerry Lu believes the country’s policy direction is an opportunity for innovation:
“Australia’s 2050 net-zero target, combined with an open market and free-trade policies, creates an ideal environment for innovation and competition. By aligning our technology with government initiatives like the $500 million Driving the Nation Program, we’re assisting Aussie drivers in seamlessly transitioning to electric vehicles in both urban and remote areas.”

EZgo Portable Charger: Smart, Compact, and Road-Trip Ready
Debuting earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), MSI’s EZgo Portable Charger is designed for plug-and-play convenience, making EV charging more flexible and user-friendly. This device integrates load management, flexible scheduling, and remote monitoring, all controlled via an intuitive mobile app.
MSI emphasises that the charger is lightweight and compact, making it an ideal travel companion for road trips, ensuring that drivers are never too far from a reliable power source. As public charging infrastructure continues to expand, solutions like the EZgo Portable Charger serve as an essential stopgap, offering reliable access to power in areas where charger coverage is still catching up.
“Compact and lightweight enough for road trips, EZgo helps alleviate ‘range anxiety’, empowering Aussies to explore wherever life takes them.”

High Standards and Future Innovation
MSI’s EV chargers comply with the Australian RCM standard, ensuring top-tier product safety. Later this year, MSI plans to introduce a solar-ready EV charger, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and future-proofing Australia’s EV ecosystem.
“MSI’s mission is to deliver reliable, forward-looking solutions that power Australia’s green future,” says Lu. “By continuously refining our hardware and software, we aim to meet current EV needs and stay one step ahead as the market expands and consumer expectations rise.”

With a two-year warranty and support from a dedicated local service team, MSI’s new EV charging products are a robust option for Australian customers. Pricing and availability for the EZgo Portable Charger will be announced closer to its commercial launch.
