Labor’s Electric Car Discount is likely to be approved when parliament meets at the end of the month.

The following government charges will be removed from 1 July 2022.

The FBT exemption is likely to have the most profound impact when it comes to improving the affordability of EVs, increasing the demand and eventually supply.

Only electric cars that fall under the luxury car tax (LCT) threshold of $84,916 for 2022-23 will be eligible. The LCT threshold typically includes; options, accessories, dealer delivery, and GST.
