MG4 and MG ZS EV gets price cut, discounts of up to $10000

Update: The articles was updated to reflect discounts of up to $10,000 in some states.

MG Motor Australia has slashed thousands of dollars off the MG4 and MG ZS EVand has moved to nationwide drive away pricing. These price reductions follow a small $1000 to $2000 increase across both the MG4 and MG ZS EV range earlier in the year.

Savings of up to $10000 are now possible depending on the model and variant.

The price reductions buck the trend of the broader car industry, making the MG EVs very competitive on a cost basis with comparable petrol vehicles.

2023 MG 4 price in Australia (from 22 March 2024)

The entry-level MG4 51kWh Excite MY23 now starts from $39,990 drive away. This makes it the second most affordable electric hatch after the GWM Ora $35,990 before on-road costs ($36,638 to $39,003 drive-away). Depending on the variant and the state, this is a discount of over $5,000.

2024 MG ZS EV price in Australia (from 22 March 2024)

The MG ZS EV Excite now starts from $39,990 drive away, making it the most affordable electric SUV available in the market. Depending on the variant and the state, this is a discount of up to $10,000.

MG Motor Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Ciao said value for money will help Aussies weather the rising cost of living.

"Customers like choices. We want them to be empowered to have the freedom to drive a SUV or a hatch, which is why we are offering both the MG4 51kWh Excite and ZS EV Excite at under $40k drive away. Whenever we are able to pass price reductions like this onto our customers, we will make sure we do."

MG also advised they will move entire EV range to nationwide drive away pricing.

Nation wide drive away pricing in Australia will be effective from March 22 to 31 March 2024 for the range which is as follows:

• MG4 64kWh Essence MY23: $46,990
