The MG ZS EV is eligible for most Australian electric car incentives, including the fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemption for fleets and novated leases.

The small electric SUV directly competes with the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV, in addition to the GWM Ora, MG 4, Nissan Leaf, and more expensive Tesla Model Y.

The MG electric car is offered in two battery sizes with similar front-wheel-driven motor power outputs:

  • ZS EV Standard Range models (available in Excite or Essence trims) offer up to 320km of claimed WLTP driving range using a longer-lasting and cobalt-free 49kWh usable lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery.
  • ZS EV Long Range (only sold in top-spec Essence grade) offers up to 440km WLTP range (120km more) using the more energy dense 68.3kWh usable nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) chemistry.

The Chinese-born EV is capable of charging at up to 11kW AC and 80kW DC speeds, with the latter upped to 94kW on the Long Range (according to EV Database).

All models are capable of exterior vehicle-to-load (V2L) via the front charging port. But, a separate V2L adapter accessory purchase is required from a MG dealer.
