
The 2026 MG S6 electric SUV has quietly appeared in Australia months before its official debut, with full images and technical details already published through the federal government’s Road Vehicle Type Approvals database.
While European media only recently shared what they called the “first leaked photos,” images originally leaked in Australia in July 2025. The MG S6 recently earned a five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash safety tests.

Powertrains and Variants
According to the Australian filings (ROVER), the MG S6 EV will arrive with four variants, offering both rear- and all-wheel-drive setups. Power outputs range from 151kW to 266kW, depending on configuration.
- Base RWD model: 62.2kWh battery, 151kW motor
- Mid-spec RWD (TL1): 77kWh battery, 180kW output, 1880kg tare mass
- Mid-spec RWD (TL2): 77kWh battery, 180kW output, 1911kg tare mass
- Top AWD variant: 77kWh battery, dual motors, 266kW total output
With these specifications, the S6 EV positions itself squarely against the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6, key models in Australia’s growing mid-size EV SUV segment.

Design, Size, and Safety
At 4708mm long, 1912mm wide, and 1664mm tall, the MG S6 sits close in size to the Model Y, giving families generous interior space. Although there are no interior images yet, the S6’s design shares similarities with the smaller MG S5, hinting at a minimalist and tech-forward cabin layout.
In Euro NCAP testing, the S6 EV performed exceptionally well:

- 85% – Child Occupant Protection
- 84% – Vulnerable Road Users
