Key Points
- Leapmotor's B03X small SUV, known as the A10 in China, has received ADR approval.
- It will be Leapmotor's fourth model on sale in Australia and its second new nameplate for 2026, following the B05 hatchback.
- There are two battery options, a 39.8kWh pack and a 53kWh pack, both paired with a front-mounted electric motor and LFP chemistry.
Leapmotor's next model for Australia has surfaced in a government approval (ADR) document. The document confirms the Leapmotor B03X has passed Australian Design Rule (ADR) certification. The car is known as the A10 in China.
ADR approval is one of the keysteps before a vehicle goes on sale. The B03X will be Leapmotor's fourth model in the Australian range, joining the C10, B10 and B05, and it is the brand's second new nameplate for 2026.

What Is the Leapmotor B03X?
The B03X, known as the A10 in China, is a small electric SUV that Leapmotor revealed in November 2025. It sits below the B10 in the brand's lineup and is built on Leapmotor's CTC 2.0 Plus platform, which integrates the battery into the vehicle structure.
In Australia the car will be badged B03X rather than A10, the same naming pattern Leapmotor used when the C10 and B10 kept their Chinese names for export while other models changed. The B03X has already gone on sale in Europe under that name, and the ADR listing confirms Australia will follow.
In size, the B03X is a compact SUV roughly comparable to the BYD Atto 2, Australia's 5th best selling EV so far in 2026 with 5,401 deliveries in the first half of the year, which puts the B03X in a much more competitive segment than Leapmotor's cheaper B10 and B05 models.

Dimensions and Body
The ADR listing classifies the B03X as a station wagon body style under the MA passenger vehicle category, with seating for five across four doors. Dimensions from the approval documentation are:
- Length: 4,270mm
- Width: 1,810mm
- Height: 1,635mm
- Wheelbase: 2,605mm
- Ground clearance: 175mm
- Tare mass: 1,550kg
- Gross vehicle mass: 2,020kg
The listing does not show a braked towing capacity, which matches the 0kg figure recorded for the equivalent variant overseas.

Battery and Motor Options
Leapmotor Australia has not confirmed local trim names or outputs yet. However, the figures below match Leapmotor's confirmed European B03X specification, badged Pro and ProMax, and can be used as a reliable guide for what Australia is likely to receive.
Leapmotor B03X Overseas Powertrain Options
Spec | Pro (39.8kWh) | ProMax (53kWh) |
Battery | 39.8kWh LFP | 53kWh LFP |
Motor | 130kW, front-mounted | 145kW, front-mounted |
Drive layout | Front-wheel drive | Front-wheel drive |
DC fast charging (30-80%) | Approx. 16 min (2.5C) | Approx. 16 min (2.5C) |
These figures match Leapmotor's confirmed European B03X specification: the Pro grade pairs the 39.8kWh battery with a 130kW motor, while the ProMax grade pairs the 53kWh battery with a 145kW motor. Both differ from the Chinese-market A10, which uses a lower-output 70kW or 90kW motor. Leapmotor Australia has not confirmed local trim names, but if follows the same convertion as the other models, the base trim will Style and the upper model Design LR.
Range and Charging
Leapmotor quotes WLTP range of up to 292km for the 39.8kWh battery and up to 382km for the 53kWh battery in Europe. On the more generous CLTC test cycle used in China, the same batteries are claimed to return up to 403km and 505km respectively.
Both batteries support 2.5C DC fast charging, which Leapmotor says takes a 30 to 80 percent charge from around 16 minutes. This should translate to peak speeds of 100kW to 130 kW.
How It Compares to the BYD Atto 2
The B03X's dimensions place it much closer to the BYD Atto 2 than to cheaper city EVs. The Atto 2 measures 4,310mm long and 1,830mm wide, only slightly larger than the B03X's 4,270mm length and 1,810mm width. That puts the two cars in the same compact/small SUV bracket.
Whether the B03X can match the Atto 2 on price will depend heavily on how Leapmotor Australia positions it locally. The Atto 2 starts from $31,990 before on-road costs, so the B03X would need to land near or under that mark to compete directly. Local pricing has not been announced.

Leapmotor's Growing Australian Range
Leapmotor entered Australia with the C10 medium SUV, followed by the B10 small SUV and, more recently, the B05 hatchback. The B03X would slot in as a fourth model, and give Leapmotor a small SUV that sits between the entry-level B10 and mainstream rivals like the Atto 2, rather than competing purely on price.
Zecar will update this article once Leapmotor Australia confirms local specifications, pricing and an on-sale date for the B03X.
