Price and Incentives

Only $1000 separates the base model variants of the GWM Ora and MG4. Both will be eligible for the various state government incentives and the FBT exemption.

Size and Dimensions

Both EVs are considered to be practical. They are both built on a dedicated EV platform which allows for greater interior space relative to the external footprint.

Despite the MG 4 having marginally larger dimensions than the GWM Ora, except for height, both vehicles are quite similar to each other in size. The MG4 however has notably larger boot capacity than the Ora.

The MG4 is the heavier vehicle. by 115 kg.

Range and Performance

Despite the MG 4 being heavier, it offers better range and acceleration than the GWM Ora. The MG4's better range is attributable to its ~5kWh larger battery pack.

The MG4 also offers better acceleration, despite being having equal power and torque with the GWM Ora. This is likely attributable to the MG4's rear-wheel drive setup which allows for higher power delivery to the wheels.

Battery and Charging

The GWM Ora has a faster AC charging time, the MG 4 almost takes twice as long as the Ora when charging with AC. The MG 4 offers a higher DC charging power than the Ora, and it also offers bi-directional charging which the Ora doesn't have. The single phase on-board charger of both models offer pedestrian AC charging rates of 7 kW to 11 kW

Driver Technology

The GWM Ora and MG 4 offer similar levels of driver-assist technology features. The Ora however, offers a 360 degree camera and surveillance camera system.

Infotainment and Connectivity

While both vehicles have 10.3-inch screens the GWM Ora is considered to have a superior infotainment and connectivity offering, highlighted by its wireless charging and over-the-air update capabilities. It also has more speakers than the MG4.

Both feature Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Warranty and Servicing

The MG4 and GWM Ora both offer class-leading vehicle warranties. The GWM Ora has a better battery warranty, it is likely one of the best battery warranties available for an electric car.

The MG4 has longer servicing intervals which means less frequent servicing.
