Note: The list for "Best Value Long Range EVs in Australia" was updated to reflect the $41,990 MSRP of the MG4 64 Excite.

GWM, the Chinese EV manufacturer, has reduced the price of the GWM Ora range by $2000 to $6000. The reductions come off the back off recent price reductions of the MG4 and broader discounting across the whole EV market.

With the price reduction, the GWM Ora Standard Range is now $3000 more expensive than the MG4 51 Excite which is currently selling for $30,990 driveaway. It should be noted that the MG4's discounted price will end on 31 October.

The GWM Ora Extended Range, which has been discounted by $6000 is now the most affordable EV with 400km or more of range.

GWM Ora Extended Range Comparison

The price reduction means that the GWM Ora Extended Range now easily becomes the best value EV with 400km or more of driving range. The next best value models are MG4 64 Excite and the BYD Dolphin Premium. It should be noted that the MG4 64 Excite with the $5000 after factory bonus will cost $37,116 drive-away, making it slightly better value per km of range.

EV Market Price Reductions

The price reductions continue a trend we are seeing across the broader Australian EV market. We are seeing price discounting across the board with EV models like Tesla Model 3/Y, GWM Ora, MG 4, Peugeot e-2008, Renault Megane E-Tech, Nissan Leaf and Polestar 2 all reducing prices, aiming to boost sales and clear 2023 excess inventory.
