The 2024 BYD Atto 3 EV has been refreshed with new styling and technology improvements ahead of its imminent arrival in Australia in the coming months.

The facelifted BYD Atto 3 was recently spotted at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show sporting several upgrades designed to boost its visual appeal to a broader market. Here's a closer look at what the updated electric SUV offers:

Exterior Updates

One of the most noticeable external changes is the introduction of a newly designed 'Dragon Scale' D-pillar. The previous silver or chrome finishing has been swapped out for a sleek black paint job, which provides a sportier edge to the vehicle's appearance.

The 2024 Atto 3 is now equipped with an improved set of tyres. The existing Atlas Batman A51 tyres have been exchanged for the broader, higher-end Continental EcoContact 6s, promising better handling and performance on the road.

Interior Upgrades

Stepping inside the refreshed Atto 3, drivers will be welcomed by a significant upgrade to the central infotainment system. The screen size has been increased to a more striking 15.6-inch display, up from the previous model's 12.8-inch screen. This should offer drivers an enhanced user interface with clearer visibility and more responsive touch controls.

The Atto 3's cabin also introduces a chic new black-blue color scheme that drivers can select with certain exterior colors like Cosmos Black or Boulder Grey. This custom option allows owners to personalise their ride further and stand out in a crowd. This colour combination provides a more muted aesthetic which should appeal to a wider audience compared to the brighter blue-cream color scheme.

'Improved' Charging Capability

Under the hood, the facelifted BYD Atto 3 has received a slight bump in maximum charging speed. It is now capable of reaching up to 88kW using a DC fast-charging outlet, compared to 80kW in the previous version.

It should be noted that this is likely an update to the on-paper 'specification' rather than an upgrade to the battery management system. Many existing owners of BYD Atto 3 drivers have reported reaching 88 kW peak charging speed in their 2022-23 BYD Atto 3 at DC fast charging stations.

Zecar's Take

The upgrades to the 2024 BYD Atto 3 are welcomed but would not be considered enough to be a traditional mid-life update. While the bigger screen and more muted colour scheme will appeal to a broader audience, getting a $2023 cashback offer on a 2023 BYD Atto 3 might be a better value deal - unless the 2024 year model results in a price drop like the 2024 BYD Yuan Plus in China.
