BYD’s premium brand Denza appears to be stepping further into the electric sports car spotlight, with a convertible prototype of its upcoming Denza Z model now spotted out in the wild. First shown as a sleek two-door coupe concept at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the newly surfaced image reveals a few previously unseen details. The images reveal a striking black soft-top version, suggesting multiple variants may be on the cards.

The vehicle, photographed by Thinkercar and shared on social media, features an aggressive front design with triangular headlights, reminiscent of those seen on combustion-engine supercars like the Lamborghini Huracán. The front bonnet sports a noticeable air scoop, adding to the performance-focused styling.

Beneath the vehicle wrap, a round badge appears close to the front number plate area, resembling the Denza emblem seen on the brand’s other luxury EVs. Inside, the prototype shows a wide horizontal centre screen, while several cameras mounted on the windscreen suggest advanced driver assistance capabilities are baked into the package.
This latest sighting marks the first time a soft-top version has been seen, adding weight to speculation that Denza may offer both hard- and soft-top versions of the new Z. The concept version previously shown in China showcased BYD’s high-tech ambitions, with features like DiSus-M active suspension, steer-by-wire tech, and a foldable steering wheel.
