The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is now on sale in Australia, priced from $115,000 (MLP, excluding on-road costs). It is the second electric car from Hyundai's N performance division, following the Ioniq 5 N which launched in 2024 at the same price.
The Ioniq 6 N is based on the facelifted Ioniq 6 sedan and will be the only version of that car available in Australia for now. Hyundai Australia has acknowledged it will sell in small numbers, describing it as a niche product. After the first batch clears showrooms, it will be available by custom order on a roughly three-month turnaround.
Price and Variants
The Ioniq 6 N is offered in a single, fully equipped grade. A sunroof delete is available at no extra cost. Six exterior colours are available, with two matte options.

Powertrain and Performance
The Ioniq 6 N uses the same dual-motor AWD system as the Ioniq 5 N. In standard driving it produces 448kW and 740Nm. With N Grin Boost active, outputs rise to 478kW and 770Nm for up to 10 seconds, enabling a 3.2-second 0-100km/h sprint using N Launch Control. Top speed is 257km/h.
The front motor contributes 166kW and 350Nm, while the rear motor adds 282kW and 390Nm. With N Grin Boost, those figures rise to 175kW/370Nm (front) and 303kW/400Nm (rear).
The Ioniq 6 N is 0.2 seconds quicker to 100km/h than the Ioniq 5 N, aided by its more aerodynamic sedan body. The 0.274 drag coefficient and swan-neck rear wing providing up to 100kg of downforce both contribute to this.

Chassis and Handling
The standard Ioniq 6 body has been reinforced for the N model. Additional weld points, structural adhesives, and rear bulkhead diagonal braces increase torsional stiffness by 19.8 percent. Specific reinforcements around the rear wheel arch stiffen the damper mounting points.
Suspension uses a low roll-centre geometry with Integrated Drive Axles at each corner. The stroke-sensing ECS adjusts damping in real time. An e-LSD supports traction and high-speed handling. Hydro-G fluid-filled bushes are used front and rear for a balance of response and comfort.
Brakes are 400mm ventilated front discs with four-piston monobloc calipers, and 360mm rear discs. Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 adjusts regen levels automatically based on traffic and navigation data.
N Performance Technology
The Ioniq 6 N carries over and improves on the N-specific features from the Ioniq 5 N. Here is a summary of the key systems:
N e-Shift
N e-Shift simulates gear changes with virtual shift jolts and sound effects. Compared to the Ioniq 5 N, the system has been updated with revised gear ratios for more frequent shifts in daily driving. It now works in Eco mode and adds Downhill Assist and Upshift Delay functions. It is also compatible with N Launch Control, N Drift Optimiser, N Grin Boost, and N Torque Distribution simultaneously.
N Drift Optimiser
The updated N Drift Optimiser lets drivers adjust drift initiation, angle, and wheel spin to suit their skill level. A torque kick can be triggered by pulling and releasing both paddle shifters at once. The system now works alongside N e-Shift and does not require braking to activate.
N Battery Modes
Three N Battery modes manage thermal performance for different track scenarios:
- N Battery Drag: maximises output and acceleration, targets 30-40 degrees C battery temperature
- N Battery Sprint: for lap-time driving, automatically applies N Grin Boost as needed
- N Battery Endurance: balances output with consumption for longer track sessions, targets 20-30 degrees C
A 7.0kW high-output battery preconditioning heater reduces warm-up time by more than 14 minutes compared to the previous system.
Design and Interior
The Ioniq 6 N uses the streamliner styling of the standard Ioniq 6, inspired by the RN22e concept. N-specific additions include a gloss black front bumper with integrated splitter, wide fenders, luminous orange strips, and a swan-neck rear wing. Black 20-inch forged five-spoke alloys reveal large brake discs and red calipers.
Inside, the cabin features black Alcantara and leather trim with Performance Blue accents. N lightweight sports seats include heating and ventilation. The N Pasubio steering wheel has a centre mark and N1/N2 shortcut buttons. N metal pedals and a knee support pad complete the driver-focused setup.
N Ambient Shift Light uses the cabin mood lighting to sync with the virtual engine RPM, creating a visual cue for each simulated gear change.
N Active Sound+
N Active Sound+ delivers audio feedback through interior and exterior speakers, responding to RPM, speed, torque, and throttle position. Three sound profiles are available:
- Ignition: a motorsport-inspired ICE sound with backfire effects
- Evolution: a high-performance EV sound inspired by the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo
- Lightspeed: a futuristic sci-fi sound concept
Sound profiles can be selected via the infotainment system or through the N1/N2 steering wheel buttons.
Safety and Technology
The Ioniq 6 N includes the full Hyundai SmartSense suite. Key systems include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (with car, pedestrian, cyclist, junction and lane change detection), Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane change assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2.
Hyundai Bluelink connected car services are included for five years at no cost. Features include remote climate control, vehicle diagnostics, geo-fencing alerts, emergency call (SOS), and navigation send-to-car. Over-the-air software updates are also supported.
Warranty and Ownership
The Ioniq 6 N is backed by a 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranty when all servicing is completed at an authorised Hyundai dealer (5 years if not). The high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first. Lifetime Premium Roadside Support and Sat Nav updates are included when serviced by Hyundai.
