Hyundai has unveiled teaser images of what could be its fastest electric car yet - the 2026 Ioniq 6 N. With its global reveal locked in for July and Australian deliveries confirmed for 2026, this high-performance version of the Ioniq 6 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated EVs of the year.
The new images give us a first official look at Hyundai’s latest N-badged EV, revealing a low-slung silhouette with serious upgrades: a tall swan-neck rear spoiler, lower ride height, flared wheel arches, and a more aggressive body kit. Expect wider tyres tucked into those arches and a set of 21-inch performance alloys, along with bigger brakes and sculpted bumpers.

No official specs confirmed yet
While Hyundai hasn’t disclosed performance figures yet, the Ioniq 6 N is widely tipped to inherit much of its hardware from the Ioniq 5 N, which arrived last year with 478kW of power, 770Nm of torque, and a dual-motor setup paired with an 84kWh battery. That hatchback is capable of launching from 0 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, and given the Ioniq 6’s sleeker sedan profile and lighter weight, there's every chance it could be even quicker.
The design of the Ioniq 6 N also draws heavily from the RN22e ‘rolling lab’ concept, a prototype revealed by Hyundai’s N performance division in 2022. That car was built to test the limits of electric performance tech and laid the groundwork for what we’re now seeing in this production model.

Hyundai officially confirmed the Ioniq 6 N project alongside the reveal of the facelifted standard Ioniq 6, which features new black rear detailing and subtle visual updates. Although the final Ioniq 6 N specifications are still under wraps, its wider footprint and track-focused upgrades suggest Hyundai is doubling down on electric performance..
Australian availability and pricing expectations
Hyundai has confirmed that the Ioniq 6 N will launch in Australia in 2026, with the first batch expected to arrive in the first half of the year, barring any production delays. There’s no official pricing yet, but if the Ioniq 5 N’s $110,383 (plus on-roads) is anything to go by, the Ioniq 6 N may well become Hyundai’s most expensive model ever sold in Australia, potentially landing close to or above the $125,000 drive-away mark.

Sharper styling, longer range?
Along with its powertrain and design upgrades, there’s hope the Ioniq 6 N will offer a slight improvement in driving range over the Ioniq 5 N’s 448km claim. Thanks to its more aerodynamic shape, the Ioniq 6 could squeeze out more distance from the same battery pack, which is welcome news for performance-focused EV drivers looking to maximise range without sacrificing thrills.
Hyundai’s decision to unveil the car in July aligns with the timing of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a fitting venue for such a high-profile launch, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed.

A glimpse into Hyundai’s EV performance future
This isn’t just a go-fast version of an existing EV. The Ioniq 6 N signals Hyundai’s growing ambition to compete in the premium electric performance market, taking aim at rivals like the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Kia EV6 GT. By blending track-ready hardware with real-world usability, Hyundai’s N division is proving that electric cars don’t have to compromise when it comes to driver engagement.
