Key Points
- Smart #6 EHD PHEV features 1,810 km total range and 285 km EV range
- Its 320 kW hybrid system with a 1.5-litre turbo engine and 3-speed DHT
- While unconfirmed for Australia, the #6’s long EV range and fastback design make it a strong candidate
Smart has pulled the covers off the new Smart #6 EHD plug-in hybrid, releasing a fresh batch of official images and confirming several headline numbers that instantly turn this sleek fastback into one of the most interesting electrified sedans in the global market.
The real shock value comes from the claimed 1,810 km CLTC total driving range and an equally eyebrow-lifting 285 km pure electric range, both of which place the #6 well ahead of many rivals.

A New Flagship With Serious Power
The Smart #6 continues the brand’s partnership with Geely and uses the latest NordThor Hybrid 2.0 system. It is an ambitious setup designed to deliver strong performance and long-distance touring capability in equal measure.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 120 kW, paired with a powerful electric motor and a 3-speed DHT hybrid transmission. Together they generate 320 kW of system output, equal to 429 hp, enough to give the #6 the punch of a performance sedan rather than a mild-mannered hybrid.
Smart has not disclosed the battery capacity yet, but it is confirmed to be a lithium iron phosphate pack sourced from either SVOLT or CATL. Fuel consumption lands at an impressive 3.9 L per 100 km on the CLTC cycle.

Longest Wheelbase of Any Smart
The #6 will also become Smart’s largest vehicle to date. At 4906 mm long and with a 2926 mm wheelbase, it dwarfs the smaller Smart #5 EHD while maintaining a sleek, coupe-inspired silhouette. The stretched proportions hint at a roomier cabin, which has not been revealed yet, but Smart is expected to fit a wide digital cockpit with a large centre display, AI voice control and a tech-heavy user experience.

Bold Styling With Performance Cues
Smart clearly wants the #6 to stand out in the increasingly crowded hybrid space. Bright yellow paint, matching yellow brake calipers and an adjustable rear wing all contribute to a sporty personality.
At the front, a full-width LED light bar sits above a large black lower grille. A roof-mounted lidar confirms that the #6 will feature advanced driver assistance, possibly including high-level hands-off functions in China. Side-mounted cameras and flush door handles complete the premium look.
The earlier Smart #5 EHD uses a similar 320 kW hybrid system, meaning the #6 is expected to offer comparable performance but with more cabin space, more equipment and a grand-touring range that dwarfs most plug-in hybrids sold globally.

Will Australia Get the Smart #6?
Smart’s revival under Geely has already opened the door to new markets, although the brand is still quiet about expansion outside China and Europe. Given Australia’s strong interest in plug-in hybrids and the growing presence of Geely-related brands, the Smart #6 is not an impossibility.
If the model does make its way here, its long electric range and sporty fastback styling would give it a unique position in the market, sitting somewhere between a luxury PHEV sedan and a performance-leaning EV alternative. For now, Smart has released no official word, but the #6’s global-ready design suggests it could appear in Australia if the company chooses to broaden its footprint.
