Jaecoo Australia has confirmed specifications for the J5 EV, which arrives in dealerships in January 2026. The electric SUV enters the affordable small SUV segment, competing with the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Leapmotor B10, and Geely EX5.
Jaecoo is a sub-brand of Chery that focuses on "urban off-road," adventurous, and sub-premium SUVs.
The J5 range includes three drivetrains: petrol, hybrid, and BEV. The electric variant launches first with a single Track specification. The J5 is sometimes referred to as the "Chinese Range Rover" due to some similarities in its design aesthetics.
Pricing will be confirmed closer to its official launch early next year, but is expected to be around the low $40k mark.

Single Variant Packed With Features
The J5 EV Track comes with extensive standard equipment. Jaecoo has opted for a single, well-equipped variant rather than multiple trim levels.

Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer OMODA JAECOO AUS & NZ, said the J5 BEV will be a compelling choice in an increasingly competitive EV market.
'No other vehicle currently offers a pet-friendly interior and a large selection of accessories, which range from a dog carrier to a waterproof cargo mat, and even a karaoke machine,' Munoz said.
Pet-Friendly Interior
The Track variant features synthetic leather made from a special silicone-based material. The material is antibacterial and wear-resistant, making it more durable and easier to clean than traditional leather.

This feature targets Australian buyers with pets, addressing a practical need in the family SUV market.
Performance and Range
The J5 EV uses a single electric motor producing 155kW and 288Nm, with power sent to the front wheels. The setup delivers 0-100km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds.
