Hyundai is doubling down on its EV ambitions by launching a dedicated N-branded rapid charging station at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP), now open to all electric vehicle owners—no matter the badge on their bonnet.
This high-performance EV charging hub features two 150kW DC fast chargers delivering power through four Type 2 connectors, giving race fans, track-day drivers, and performance EV owners a serious jolt of convenience.

Open Access, High Impact
Unlike many manufacturer-backed chargers limited to brand-exclusive vehicles, Hyundai’s setup is fully open to the public. That means any EV driver rocking up to SMSP can plug in and power up—whether you're driving an MG4, Tesla Model 3, or Hyundai’s own Ioniq 5 N.
“We knew SMSP and the ARDC were the perfect partners to deliver Australia’s first race track with dedicated EV chargers,” said Don Romano, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company Australia.
The chargers aren’t just a gimmick—they’re built to serve a rapidly expanding market of track-capable EVs and everyday drivers looking for a fast top-up while enjoying motorsport events.

Electrifying Australia’s Home of Motorsport
The new EV charging station is part of a five-year partnership between Hyundai and SMSP, reinforcing Hyundai’s long-standing relationship with the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club (ARDC). The goal? Bring high-voltage performance and infrastructure into the motorsport mainstream.
It’s not Hyundai’s first foray into track-side charging either. The brand previously installed chargers at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland, and now it’s adding extra horsepower (or kilowatts, more accurately) to the NSW venue that regularly hosts:
- Hyundai N Festival – Australia’s largest performance EV event
- World Time Attack Challenge
- EV track days and media launches
- Formula SAE university R&D programs

Ioniq 5 N: From Circuit King to Safety Car
Fittingly, the Ioniq 5 N, Hyundai’s performance flagship and Wheels COTY winner, continues to serve as SMSP’s official safety car. With its blistering acceleration and track-tuned handling, it’s more than just a PR vehicle—it’s a symbol of how seriously Hyundai is taking the electric future of motorsport.
Digital signage across the venue highlights the brand’s presence, while Ioniq 5 N owners get extra perks, including exclusive access to track experiences.
“The EV chargers are already making an impact—not just for today’s EV drivers, but for the future of automotive education and motorsport,” said ARDC CEO Glenn Matthews.
