Key Points

  • ELEXIO Elite priced at $59,990 drive-away with 88kWh battery and 546km WLTP range
  • 160kW motor, 38-minute fast charging, and V2L power outlet for versatile use
  • Australian-tuned suspension and steering for local road conditions

Hyundai Australia has confirmed a more affordable addition to its new ELEXIO electric SUV lineup, set to arrive in the second quarter of this year (April through June).

The 2026 Hyundai ELEXIO will be positioned below the ELEXIO Elite in the range, with the latter now available. It has a starting price of $58,990 before on-road costs. That’s $3000 less than the more premium launch variant, which is currently available for $59,990 driveaway until March 31, 2026. After this promotional period ends, the Elite will increase to $61,990 plus on-road costs.

The ELEXIO marks the first passenger vehicle for the Australian market to be manufactured in China, produced through the Beijing Hyundai joint venture, a 50/50 partnership with BAIC Motor.

Both models come with an 88kWh battery pack and deliver a WLTP range of 546km on a single charge.

Hyundai has tuned the ELEXIO specifically for Australian roads. The suspension and steering have been calibrated to handle local conditions. This includes everything from smooth highways to rough country roads.

Powertrain and Range

The ELEXIO uses Hyundai's E-GMP platform. The electric motor produces 160kW of power and 310Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels. The motor provides smooth acceleration and responsive performance for daily driving.

The battery pack has a capacity of 88.1kWh. It uses LFP chemistry for long life and thermal stability. The battery is positioned low in the chassis for a lower center of gravity.

A heat pump system is standard. This improves efficiency in cold weather by recycling waste heat. The system helps maintain range in winter conditions.

The entry ELEXIO delivers 562km of WLTP range. The Elite variant achieves 546km due to the larger wheels. Energy consumption is rated at 18.2 kWh per 100km. Real-world range will vary based on driving style and conditions.
