Geely EX5 Hits 1000 Orders In Just 2 Months

Comments

Geely’s entry into the Australian and New Zealand EV market is off to a strong start. Just a month after launching its EX5 electric SUV, the Chinese brand has already racked up over 1,000 orders — a figure that could place it among the top-selling EVs in the region this year.

To keep the order books growing as the end of financial year (EOFY) approaches, Geely has announced a fresh round of incentives aimed squarely at first-time EV buyers. These offers are designed to ease common concerns around cost, charging, and ownership — and make the switch from internal combustion vehicles feel more accessible and rewarding.

EOFY Offers That Matter

Available until the end of June, Geely’s latest sales package includes:

  • A $2,000 trade-in bonus
  • A free Level 2 home charger
  • Your choice of either five years of complimentary servicing or a $2,000 gift card

These new perks follow an earlier introductory deal that included one year of free public charging, a complimentary 7kW AC home charger, three years of free servicing, and free metallic paint. While that initial offer wrapped up at the end of April, Geely’s updated incentives aim to keep the momentum going into winter.

The EX5: A Solid Contender in the Mid-Size EV SUV Segment

The Geely EX5 is offered in two trims — the base Complete from $40,990 and the higher-spec Inspire from $44,990, both before on-road costs. Each variant is powered by a 60.22kWh battery delivering up to 430km of WLTP range, putting it in the same ballpark as rivals from MG, BYD, and even some legacy automakers now pivoting to EVs.

Charging is equally competitive. With a 100kW peak DC fast charge rate, the EX5 can go from 30 to 80% in around 20 minutes — quick enough for practical road-trip stops. AC charging is handled by an onboard 11kW charger, and the car also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability with up to 3.3kW output, ideal for running appliances or topping up e-bikes and camping gear.

Peace of Mind Comes Standard

Backing the EX5 is a 7-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, an 8-year battery warranty, and up to 7 years of complimentary roadside assistance. The EX5 has also earned a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, a key reassurance for buyers transitioning from petrol and diesel SUVs to electric.

Geely’s local CEO said the EOFY campaign is about removing barriers for everyday drivers still on the fence.

“Charging, service costs, and comparing EVs to traditional cars are still big questions for buyers,” the company stated. “These offers are designed to simplify the experience and support people through the transition.”

Strong Start in a Competitive Segment

With over 1,000 EX5s already ordered and attractive incentives running through June, Geely is making a confident push into Australia’s fast-growing EV market. As more mid-sized electric SUVs enter the mix, competition will intensify — but that could be good news for consumers.

If Geely can continue offering value-packed EVs backed by practical incentives and strong warranties, it might just accelerate the shift away from internal combustion in 2025 and beyond.
