Key Points
- EnergyAustralia is ending EV Night Boost, its NSW electricity plan that charged 7c/kWh from midnight to 6am.
- Customers who do not pick a new plan are moved to the plan named in their notice, which Zecar understands is the Standing Offer Home plan.
- EnergyAustralia said it is aiming to bring back a plan for EV owners in 2027.
EnergyAustralia is closing its EV Night Boost plan, according to the end-of-plan information on its website. The plan gave New South Wales EV owners a rate of 7c/kWh from midnight to 6am, and customers on it are being moved to a new plan.
Customers who want to keep a cheap overnight rate need to act. Zecar understands that those who do nothing revert to the standing offer, which costs more for overnight. charging EnergyAustralia said it is aiming to bring back an EV plan in 2027, but has not said what it will include.
What EnergyAustralia is changing
EV Night Boost was a whole-of-home electricity plan for NSW customers with an EV registered at the same address as the account. EnergyAustralia said the 7c/kWh rate and the midnight to 6am window stayed the same when other usage rates and supply charges on the plan were updated on 17 July 2026.

EnergyAustralia lists EV Night Boost alongside Battery Ease, Community Battery Ease, Solar Ease, Solar Home Bundle and Solar Plus as plans that are ending. The company said it is moving customers because their current plan, including its rates and any discount, is no longer available.
What happens to your plan
EnergyAustralia said each customer receives a notice that names their new plan and start date. Customers can choose a different plan. If they do nothing, EnergyAustralia switches them to the listed plan on the date in the notice. The company said energy supply is not affected.
EnergyAustralia said it sends a final bill within two weeks of the plan ending. Customer accounts stay open until mid-December, and the company encourages customers to download their billing history before then. New EnergyAustralia plans are billed quarterly, not monthly.
What overnight charging costs on the standing offer
EnergyAustralia's own comparison shows the size of the gap. In the Ausgrid network area, a six-hour charge on a 7.2kW home charger adds 43.2kWh. On EV Night Boost at 7c/kWh, that costs about $3.02.
The same charge on Standing Offer Home costs about $10.81, based on an overnight rate of 25.03c/kWh as at July 2026. That is $7.79 more for each full overnight charge.

These rates apply only in the cheap window. Peak rates, daily supply charges and feed-in tariffs also change the total bill, so compare the full plan for your address with EV Energy Compare. Zecar may earn a commission if you sign up to some of these retailers.
Households that are home during the day can also look at free midday windows, which Zecar explains in its free daytime electricity guide.
What EV Night Boost customers should do now
- Check your notice for your new plan, its overnight rate and the start date.
- Compare other plans before that date, because doing nothing moves you to the listed plan.
- Check your charging schedule. EnergyAustralia said it is set through your app, car or charger, not through the retailer, so your charging times may no longer match the cheapest period.
- Download your billing history before the account closes in mid-December.
Charger speed also decides how much energy fits in a cheap window. Zecar's home EV charging guide covers the options.
