The Denza Z9GT has cleared Australian Design Rule (ADR) approval, the federal certification process every new vehicle must pass before it can legally go on sale in Australia. The approval paves the way for the electric grand tourer's imminent launch in Australian showrooms.
Denza had already confirmed the Z9GT for Australia earlier in 2026, with local deliveries pencilled in for the third quarter of the year. ADR certification is the last major regulatory hurdle, and it typically arrives shortly before a car reaches dealerships.

The engine listing on the certification produces a combined motor set producing 850kW, matching the tri-motor output Denza has previously stated for the performance version. This confirms the tri-motor Z9GT is the variant heading to Australia first, in line with earlier statements from Denza Australia.
Range, battery capacity and pricing are not covered by ADR paperwork. Denza however confirmed earlier in the year that the Z9GT will get a CLTC-rated range of 1,036km. Local WLTP figures have not yet been released but expect ~880km. Final Australian specifications will be confirmed closer to launch date.

Who the Z9GT will compete with
In the electric segment, the Z9GT lines up against the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo and the Audi RS e-tron GT, both of which it undercuts significantly on price while matching or exceeding them on power. Denza's own figures put the Z9GT's 850kW tri-motor output ahead of both German rivals, and its Blade Battery 2.0 with FLASH charging claims a faster top-up time than either car currently offers in Australia.

Outside the EV space, the Z9GT's shooting brake body and performance figures put it in the same conversation as petrol and hybrid performance wagons such as the BMW M5 Touring and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. Denza has been vocal about targeting this segment, with BYD executives comparing the Z9GT favourably against these European performance cars on both power and price.
Local pricing for the Z9GT has not been confirmed. Zecar has previously estimated a local starting price in the $110,000 to $130,000 range based on overseas figures. By comparison, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S starts from around $390,000 in Australia and the Audi RS e-tron GT Performance from around $310,000, meaning the Z9GT is positioned to undercut both by a wide margin.
What happens next
With ADR approval secured, Denza can now proceed to final pricing, specification confirmation and dealer allocation for the Z9GT. Denza Australia has previously said the tri-motor variant will be the first to arrive, with FLASH ultra-fast charging infrastructure planned for select dealerships in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.
