DENZA Australia has announced pricing for its first two models, the B5 and B8 Super Hybrid SUVs. The vehicles mark the brand's entry into the Australian market with a focus on combining luxury features with competitive pricing.
The B5 will be available in Standard and Leopard variants, while the B8 offers 7-seat and 6-seat configurations. Both models use BYD's DM-O (Dual Mode Offroad) super-hybrid platform, which allows drivers to switch between EV-first driving for daily use and PHEV mode for extended range.
Orders are now open, with the first 2,000 B5 customers receiving a free premium paint upgrade and interior trim enhancement valued at approximately $1,818.
Pricing and Models
DENZA has positioned its vehicles well below traditional luxury SUV competitors. The pricing structure is straightforward.
DENZA B5 and B8 Pricing (Excluding On-Road Costs)
Model | AUD Price |
B5 | $74,990 |
B5 Leopard | $79,990 |
B8 – 7 Seat (7S) | $91,000 |
B8 – 6 Seat (6S) | $97,990 |
The B5 starts at $74,990 for the Standard variant, with the Leopard version priced at $79,990. The larger B8 is available from $91,000 for the 7-seat configuration, while the 6-seat executive version costs $97,990.
These prices exclude on-road costs but include premium features typically found in vehicles costing significantly more. Similar features on a plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport start from about $180,000.
DENZA COO Mark Harland said the brand is targeting luxury SUV competitors priced as high as $250,000. 'At DENZA, we're excited to offer Australian customers a gateway to automotive luxury at price points which are unrivalled in the segment,' Harland said.
Technology and Performance

Both the B5 and B8 are built on BYD's DM-O (Dual Mode Offroad) super-hybrid platform. This technology allows the vehicles to operate primarily as electric vehicles for daily driving, while offering extended range capability for longer trips.
The system delivers a combined range of almost 1000km in a single drive. Pure electric range reaches up to 100 kilometres, allowing most daily commutes to be completed without using petrol.
Performance figures are strong across the range. Both models feature dual-motor 4WD with a combined power output of 425 kilowatts. The zero-to-100 km/h time is less than five seconds.
'What really excites us is getting to share DENZA's technology with Aussie customers. You can use these vehicles almost exclusively as EVs around town, while being able to hit the road for almost 1,000km in a single drive thanks to this Super Hybrid technology,' Harland said.
Premium Features
DENZA has equipped both models with features typically reserved for much more expensive vehicles. Standard equipment includes full Nappa leather upholstery across all variants.
Seats feature massage, heating, and ventilation functions. The sound system is a 16- or 18-speaker Devialet setup. A 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen handles infotainment and vehicle controls.
The B8's 6-seat configuration is designed for executive travel, with enhanced second-row comfort and space. The 7-seat version prioritizes family practicality.
Both models include BYD's Blade Battery technology and an available DiSus-P hydraulic suspension system. The suspension provides improved comfort and control on sealed roads and off-road conditions.
Market Position
The luxury SUV segment in Australia has traditionally relied on combustion engines. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Range Rover, Audi, and Lexus models dominate sales in this category.
DENZA wants to challenge these established brands by offering electric technology at a much lower price point. This is the first time DENZA has offered its SUVs outside China.
'In many ways, Denza is redefining what a premium brand can be at a premium price point,' Harland said. 'People are used to luxury, high-tech vehicles at a much higher price point, and we think we can redefine what those expectations are.'
Harland said he is confident DENZA can convince buyers who might question the performance of a plug-in hybrid. 'There aren't many other cars that can achieve that kind of performance,' he said.
Dealership Network and Launch
DENZA officially unveiled the B5 and B8 at its first Australian location in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney. A national roadshow showcasing new dealerships across the country followed this week.
The company initially will have four stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. The network will grow to 25 locations across the country by the end of next year, following the release of two additional models.
DENZA already has 5,000 expressions of interest for the B5 and B8. Some potential customers were invited to the launch events. Test drives will commence for the public from next week.
The launch also introduces the House of DENZA, a premium brand universe designed exclusively for DENZA drivers and future customers. It blends experience, access, innovation, and lifestyle in a new generation of environments.

Impact on the Australian Market
DENZA's entry represents a significant shift in the Australian luxury SUV market. The brand is bringing Chinese electric vehicle technology to a segment that has been dominated by European manufacturers for decades.
The pricing strategy is aggressive. By offering luxury features at prices 50-60% below established competitors, DENZA is betting that Australian buyers will prioritise value and technology over traditional brand prestige.
The timing aligns with growing consumer interest in plug-in hybrids. These vehicles address range anxiety while offering the efficiency benefits of electric driving for daily use. The 100km electric range covers most urban commutes, while the petrol engine provides confidence for longer trips.
DENZA's parent company, BYD, has already proven the market appetite for Chinese EVs in Australia. BYD launched in Australia in 2022 and has sold more than 45,000 cars this year, an increase of 144 per cent on 2024. This cements its position as a top-10 car brand in 2025.
The success of BYD provides DENZA with established infrastructure, service networks, and consumer trust. However, DENZA faces the challenge of establishing itself as a distinct premium brand rather than simply another BYD product line.
The first-mover advantage in the premium plug-in hybrid SUV space could be significant. While other manufacturers are planning similar vehicles, DENZA is entering the market now with competitive pricing and strong specifications.
