Key Points

  • BYD's Ti7 seven-seat SUV has appeared in Australia's Road Vehicle Descriptor database under approval number VTA-066795, which indicates a date of 6 November 2026.
  • The Australian listing shows a 4WD 300kW drivetrain, a 5146mm length and a 2477kg tare mass, with the make listed as BYD.
  • The Ti7 is already on sale in the UK from £47,995 (about A$92,000), and a similarly specified model is likely for Australia, but BYD has not confirmed timing or pricing.

BYD has received Australian vehicle type approval for the Ti7, a large seven-seat SUV that is already on sale in the United Kingdom. The approval appears in the federal Road Vehicle Descriptor (RVD) database.

A similarly specified model is likely for Australia. At the time of writing, BYD Australia has not announced a launch date or Australian pricing. The RVD lists the make as BYD, not Denza.

What the Australian approval shows

The RVD database lists two variants for the Ti7 under model code QZ. These are QZHCX-10 (QZ-MH2F1C-8) and QZHDX-20 (QZ-MH2D1C-9).

The Australian dimensions match the UK model exactly. The 300kW figure also matches the UK system output. That points to the same plug-in hybrid powertrain.

It is more than likely the Australiuan market Ti7 will share the same drivetrain and specs as the UK edition - detailed below.

Already on sale in the UK

BYD has the Ti7 on sale in the United Kingdom, another right-hand-drive market. UK orders opened at £47,995 drive-away, which it converted to about A$92,000.

The UK model is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and two electric motors which uses BYD's DM-p system. The UK and Australia share the same right-hand-drive development pipeline, which is why a local version has been expected.

Seven seats and a BYD badge

Early reports described the Ti7 as a five-seater. BYD UK later confirmed seven seats, and the Australian listing also shows seven seats for the QZHDX-20 variant.

In China, the Ti7 is sold under the Fangchengbao sub-brand. Denza sells the related B5 and B8 in Australia. The RVD lists the make as BYD and the marketing designation as Ti 7. That fits earlier expectations of a BYD badge.

The Ti7 uses a unibody (monocoque) platform, not the ladder frame used by the B5 and B8. BYD Australia told media in February that it was doing local calibration work on an off-road vehicle with a plug-in hybrid or extended-range powertrain.

China also has a fully electric Ti7 with up to 755km of range on the CLTC cycle. It has not been confirmed for Australia.

Pricing and what is still unconfirmed

BYD has not announced Australian pricing. The Ti7 will likely cost significantly less here than in the UK, given Australia's proximity to China and generally lower prices.

For context, the Sealion 8 seven-seat plug-in hybrid starts at $56,990 before on-road costs. Its all-wheel-drive versions produce up to 359kW and claim up to 152km of NEDC electric range. The seven-seat Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Aspire starts at $66,790 before on-road costs.

Several details are still unconfirmed for Australia. These are the launch date, pricing and grades, battery size and electric range, towing capacity, and whether the electric version will follow. Based on this recent approval, expect an early 2027 arrival.

Buyers weighing a large family SUV can compare finance options, including a novated lease, once pricing is confirmed.
