iX1 Sport Collection

Key Points

  • BMW has cut the entry price of the iX1 xDrive30 to $77,900 and the iX2 xDrive30 to $79,900.
  • A new iX1 xDrive30 Sport Collection variant is available with a national driveaway price of $79,900.
  • Both models now feature silicon carbide inverters, improving range to around 465km for the iX1 xDrive30 and 475km for the iX2 xDrive30.

BMW Australia has updated the iX1 and iX2 for 2026 with lower prices, a new variant, and a meaningful range improvement. The changes make both models more competitive in the compact electric SUV segment.

What Has Changed

The iX1 xDrive30 now starts at $77,900 (RRP, excluding on-road costs), down from its previous price. The iX2 xDrive30 is now $79,900. BMW has also introduced the iX1 xDrive30 Sport Collection, which comes with a national driveaway price of $79,900.

On the technical side, both models now use silicon carbide (SiC) inverters. These reduce electrical losses and improve efficiency. Usable battery capacity has also increased slightly, from 64.6kWh to 65.2kWh.

Both the iX1 and iX2 will be using the existing platform and won’t be built on the Neue Klasse platform like the i3 and iX3.

When the iX1 launched in 2022, its main rivals were the Volvo XC40 Recharge (now EX40) and Mercedes-Benz EQA. Since then, the Audi Q4 e-tron and more affordable Tesla Model Y variants have raised the bar on range and value. The iX1 has been the bestselling fully electric BMW in Australia for three years running. In 2025, the iX2 was the second highest-selling BEV in BMW's local lineup.

The iX1 and iX2 also share their platform with the MINI Countryman Electric, which received a similar efficiency upgrade, pushing its claimed range to around 500km.
