aecoo Australia has confirmed MY27 updates for the J7 mid-size SUV, adding an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid variant to the range for the first time. The refreshed lineup goes on sale this month.
The update simplifies the J7 range into three trim names, Ridge, Track and Summit, spread across petrol and plug-in hybrid Super Hybrid System (SHS-P) powertrains. Jaecoo has also cut prices across most of the range, and added a new all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid flagship that was not previously available.
Pricing and Lineup
The J7 range now spans four variants. The petrol Ridge AWD and the entry-level plug-in hybrid Track SHS-P both start at $39,990 drive-away. The Summit SHS-P is available in 2WD from $44,990 drive-away, or in the new AWD configuration from $47,990 drive-away.
2027 Jaecoo J7 Pricing
Variant | Powertrain | Drive | Price (drive-away) |
Ridge AWD | 1.6L turbo-petrol | AWD | $39,990 |
Track SHS-P | Super Hybrid System PHEV | 2WD | $39,990 |
Summit SHS-P | Super Hybrid System PHEV | 2WD | $44,990 |
Summit SHS-P | Super Hybrid System PHEV | AWD | $47,990 |
The changes bring meaningful price cuts. According to CarExpert, the petrol Ridge AWD is down $3,000 and the entry Track SHS-P plug-in hybrid is down $4,000 compared with the outgoing range, while the 2WD Summit SHS-P is down $3,000. The AWD Summit SHS-P is an entirely new addition to the lineup rather than a repriced carryover model.

The J7 keeps its waterfall grille, flanked by slimline LED daytime running lights and stacked LED headlights. The SHS-P plug-in hybrid variants add aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels and aero-design gloss black side mirrors, along with dark grey roof rails and power retracting door handles on the Track SHS-P.
Inside, the cabin is dominated by either a 13.2-inch or 14.8-inch portrait touchscreen, depending on variant, which handles climate control, satellite navigation, audio and vehicle settings. All variants get wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and higher grades add a 10.25-inch driver instrument cluster, head-up display and a panoramic sunroof with a powered sunshade.

Powertrain and Performance
The petrol Ridge AWD uses a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder engine producing 137kW and 275Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The SHS-P plug-in hybrid variants use Omoda Jaecoo's Super Hybrid System, built around a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine dedicated to hybrid duty. In the 2WD Summit SHS-P, the engine produces 105kW and 215Nm and is paired with a single electric motor rated at 150kW and 310Nm, for a combined output of 205kW and 365Nm. The AWD Summit SHS-P adds a second electric motor driving the rear wheels exclusively, producing 113kW and 210Nm, which lifts the combined output to 260kW and 490Nm.
Powertrain Outputs
Variant | Engine | Electric Motor(s) | Combined Output | Combined Fuel Use |
Ridge AWD | 1.6L turbo-petrol, 137kW/275Nm | None | 137kW/275Nm | 7.8L/100km |
Summit SHS-P 2WD | 1.5L turbo-hybrid, 105kW/215Nm | 1x motor, 150kW/310Nm | 205kW/365Nm | 1.3L/100km |

Battery, Range and Charging
Both SHS-P variants use an 18.4kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. Jaecoo claims an electric-only range of 100km for the 2WD Summit SHS-P and 80km for the AWD Summit SHS-P, both on the NEDC test cycle, which tends to return higher figures than real-world driving. The battery can charge from 30 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes on a DC fast charger rated up to 40kW. Jaecoo says the SHS-P can travel up to 1,200km on a combination of a full battery and a full tank of fuel. According to CarExpert, the AWD Summit SHS-P weighs 1,923kg, which is 129kg heavier than the 2WD version due to the extra motor and hardware.

How the J7 SHS-P Compares
The J7 SHS-P plug-in hybrid competes in a crowded mid-size SUV segment. Its closest rivals include the BYD Sealion 6, Toyota RAV4 PHEV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Geely Starray EM-i, all of which offer electrified powertrains with varying levels of electric-only range and outright performance. The Starray EM-i is also newly relevant here: Geely added its own AWD variant, the Inspire AWD, on the same day as the J7 update was announced, priced from $44,990 plus on-road costs. Buyers cross-shopping the J7 SHS-P against these rivals will want to compare electric range, combined power output and pricing, since all five are positioned as family-friendly electrified SUVs.
Availability
The Ridge AWD and both Summit SHS-P variants arrive in Jaecoo dealerships this month. The Track SHS-P follows in October 2026.
