Zecar's Take
The arrival of the updated Subaru Solterra (MY26) marks a significant step in Subaru's ambition to grow its share of the Australian EV market. Until now, Subaru had been a quiet player in the EV transition, but this new version could finally position the brand as a genuine competitor in the mainstream electric space.

With a longer 566 km range, dual-motor AWD, and pricing that starts under $65,000, the Solterra targets the gap between budget EVs and high-end electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Its focus on all-road capability and Subaru’s long-standing reputation for reliability and strong service network, may help attract hesitant buyers who’ve been waiting for an EV that feels “ready for Australia’s roads.”
